Ok... I totally freaked!!!

Last night I read a posting regarding a person who has been post-op for years. She stated she has put weight on, easily, and didn't know what to do. I freaked... what if I can't do this, what if I lose all the weigh I need to then it comes back. I would have gone through this for nothing! I was ready to say NO WAY!

This morning I told my daughter, she told me to take a deep breath and remember what was said at the workshop we have attended. She told me that I have a lot of support and that if I really want this to go through this journey, she is there for me. I feel a little better. Just need your input, please.

This surgery is a "tool" not a magic bullet. The first 6 months to a year the weight comes off pretty quickly. The hope is that you will learn new eating hapbits and can keep it off. If you go back to your old eating habits the weight will come back on. I have already decided that I will get counseling if I need too if the weight starts to come back on and I go back to my old eating habits. As you probably know from other "diets" you have been on and lost weight it is really easy to go back to old eating habits. Just be mindful of that, stay in touch here you will get so much support and encouragement. Go to support groups in your local area. You may even have to let go of friendships that are not working for you. It will be o.k.

No matter which wt loss surgery you get, the surgery is only a tool towards less weight and better health. You have to learn behavior modification, so you don't go back to your old habits that caused most of your wt gain and health issues. Support groups are an important factor as a post op. Statistics show that those patients *****gularly attend wt loss support groups, will be those patients who do the best with maintaining their new wt loss. DAVE
