Hello Cali Friends!!!

Ladies I have an odd question for you, As of today I have lost 60 pounds (YAY!!) im super excited about that but My question is when do you start losing inches?? I expected my clothes to be alot looser when i lost this much but they are barely starting to get big. Ive tried going into a smaller size but they feel to tight, so im a little confused, Do we lose the pounds then the inches?? Im sorry if this seems like a silly question but im really confused about this.

BTW i posted for the ladies because men lose weight and inches much quicker so they just dont understand :P

I think it really depends on your body type (pear shape, round or just big all over).  I carried most of my weight in my boobs and stomach.  My legs and arms were not real large.  I lost from my arms and legs first though!  I lost more inches that weight after surgery (but prior to surgery I had already lost 35 pounds).  My first 2 month I only lost 10 pounds.  It is not good to compare yourself to others, as we are all different.  Just as long as the scale keeps moving the inches will come off eventually.

One thing I have found in plus sizes I can flex by 45lbs and not go down to the next size.  Yeah, my clothes would fit looser, but couldn't quit get down to the next size.  It's a whole different story when you are in regular sizes though.  A difference in 10 lbs means a diff rent size.  I also think it does depend on how you carry your weight.

Susan,

The other thing to consider is that clothing sizes are so irregular.  I currently buy medium tops and size 14 pants, however, I can still wear some XL tops and 18 pants that perhaps ran slightly smaller or vice versa.  It's a weird science but fun anyway.  Enjoy shopping!  In another life I was a clothing buyer for a now defunct retailer and I can tell you, sizing scales were always a common problem depending on where the garment is made and the retailers requirements.

Congrats on your weight loss!

Hugs,
Barb

For me, I lost a lot of some of my inches after I stopped losing weight as rapidly. It's strange because I haven't lost significant weight for a couple of months, but I keep noticing tops I put on are too big when they fit two months ago.

Also, exercise will make the inches come off more quickly.

It's annoying how our bodies don't all act the same way. I want to know if I lose a certain amount of weight, I will lost a certain amount of inches and that it will happen all at the same time. I also want to lose weight as quickly as everyone else who has lost more weight than me!!!

Not a silly question at all.
