EMERGENCY! Need help with gas - both burping and farting

I have noticed it since surgery on 3/25/09, but it seems to be getting more frequent and pungent.  It has become a serious issue at my work.

Any suggestions?  Does Beano work and is it safe?

Thanks for any and all responses.

Sorry you're having gas issues but beano only works with gassy foods. I take them with my first bite of beans and it really does the trick. That much gas isn't normal and if I were you I would contact your PCP. It could be a bacterial culprit in your gut such as H. pylori.

Good luck!!!

Part of it is the surgery. My gas (farting) is worse now than right after surgery and sometimes it is so awful and embarssing. I agree that you should talk to your doctor about it though. He may have some advice. GasX really does not help me, but it is not constant. My problem seems to be constapation problems. I have to take Miralax every day.

Check to make sure you're not eating too many sugar alcohols; any of the artifical sweetners that end in "ol" such as malitol, sorbitol, etc. These can really generate some gas--maybe we should volunteer to alleviate the imported gas with our own emissions!

Beano works good; just follow the directions and put a drop in the first spoonful of whatever you're eating.

I personally use Devrom, available online. It doesn't take away the gas, but does eliminate the stink.

Try GasX for the burping.

Good luck.

Hi.  First and foremost, talk to your surgeon and/or primary doctor.
I take a probiotic (recommended by my GI doctor) to help with the digestive system. I will be 3 years out on August 10th and still have the gas and burping.
Hope this helps.
