Hospital bill

My surgery is this Wednesday.. so excited, but the hospital calls me yesterday to inform me to bring $2000 for my stay. I didnt have time to call insurance.. and iI have a flexable spending account but wont get the money till the following week. I will bring in some of the money but not all of it. I am sooo nervous that they wont do the surgery. My friend said he had to make payments because they called at the last minute but did his. Keep your fngers crossed.

Here is my thoughts/recommendations....first thing Monday morning, call Dr. Krahn's office and ask them what you should do.  If they can't help you, then immediately call the hospital and tell them that there is no way you can get your flex spending money in 3 days.  That they can't possibly expect you to come up with $2000 in that amount of time.  They should set up a payment plan with you.  Don't just show up on Wednesday with less.  Be sure they know ahead of time.  Also, call your insurance company and ask them what the heck is going on as well.  Why would the hospital do such a thing.  They may also be able to help you.

Again, just don't show up with less then the $2,000 and tell them that's all you have at that point.  Follow up and follow through before and then everything should be fine.

WOW they want how much by when?? Talk about unrealistic expectations. Is that for your co pay or deductible?? I would call your insurance and find out whats going on, and then talk to the hospital and let them know the situation they should be willing to make payment arrangements for you. Hope it all works out :-)

I will be following this post as my daughter has become a Dr, Krahn (lap band) referral from her private doctor.  That is an enormous amount of money to pay upfront if you are covered under insurance...in my opinion anyway.  Keep us posted!  Best wishes for a terrific outcome though!
