Does anyone have Blue Shield of Ca PPO?  I am interested in knowing if anyone has been able to get coverage for a medical necessary panniculectomy?  If so, how easy or hard was it to get it covered?

Hi ya,

First, let me say I haven't had a panni done.  Now, I do have BC/BS PPO and I was evaluated by Dr. Katzen at a free seminar at one of the OH conventions.   I was just going through the motions with my sister (*****ally wants one)...filled out forms, had pictures, and had a long talk with Dr. Katzen.  About three weeks later I received a letter from BC/BS approving a panni and breast work.  I have no idea what he said, but there was no effort on my part.  If I still wasn't struggling to maintain...and lose more I would get that work done.

Good Luck to you.

garweeg.gifAre you sure this will work?

Yes, I do.  I was denied about a year and a half ago.  This time I went to a surgeon in Danville and was approved.  Had documented rash, pictures, backaches, stress incontinance, and was approved this time.  Don't know if the surgeon had anything to do with it or things have changed in that time.  My appt is in 2 weeks.  Doing abdominoplasty with the tightening of the muscles!!  I am thrilled!!  I have heard that they automatically deny the first time, but do your homework and document everything.
