Hi There Nor Cal Peeps! I just moved from So Cal!
Hello My friends!!
I know I haven't been on in a while, but a lot has happened in my life. Saturday I celebrated my birthday (21 x 2). I also moved from my place in Hesperia, CA to Albany, CA.
I started school at The Orientation Center for the Blind. Becky, Tara, & Jay brought me up yesterday and to the school today. Lots of tears and hugs to say the least! I am not mobile, with a car or anything, but I am looking forward to meeting some of our wonderful Nor Cal peeps! I have weekends off, so if you have a min to stop and say hello I sure would appreciate it. I don't know anybody up here and right now I feel so lonely.
I hope everybody is doing well! I may not get on quite as much as I should, but I do think of all of you quite often!
love, friendship, & hugs,

Hi Lu!
I am actually taking classes to become more independent with my vision loss. This will pave the way for me to return to get my BA in education. So the classes are associated with activities of daily living. Such as mobility, cooking, braille, computers, fine arts, etc. Most of the classes are done with a very dark sleep shade on. Can you imagine threading a needle blind or using a electric saw? They teach all of that here!!

Michelle,
Welcome to Nor Cal, and you know me!!!! LOL. Would love to get together one of these weekends and by all means, we hope you'll join us for the Nor Cal Luncheons. BART is a wonderful way to get almost anywhere and I'd be very happy to pick you up at BART and bring you to the luncheon if you wish.
Can't wait to see you and visit. Welcome again, so glad you're up in our neck of the woods.
Hugs,
Barb

Hiya Barb!!
Hey I do know you!! lol... I guess one of my mobility lessons will be to use the BART system (scary thought, right now). I have to learn independence. I actually told one of the instructors, that I knew you lived in Concord and they said learning the way there would be a great lesson! So I hope to learn it before the luncheon.
Thanks for the welcome!
huge hugs,

I chime in on barb... we would love to have you be involved. If you are not comfortable with BART at first when we have a function I can come pick you up. I love Albany.
Do you have voice activated program to read and send on here... it's called Dragonfire I think... I will check... I just read further and you do have low vision... I get to excited and post then read further...duh!!
Welcome to the Bay Area... I am a new member too ! Can't wait to meet you !

Nice to meet you, Kristen! Thank you very much for the offer. I really appreciate it. I have mobility classes everyday. We go walking and progress to using MUNI BART and I guess the other modes of transportation up here. I am so lost and out of my element, I may not progress that far by the time the luncheon comes. I am going to do my best!! I would love to meet you in person. I agree, Albany is beautiful. I live at the base of the Albany Hill, just before El Cerrito. My cell number is (909) 379-4977, my e-mail is [email protected]. drop me a line, text, or call.
huge hugs,

Welcome Michelle! As usual, a day late and a dime short..but my greetings are well intentioned ^_^ You may not know us in person, but you certainly have friends waiting to meet you and get to know you better.
Hopefully, you will be able to work out the logistics and make the Nor Cal luncheon on the 21st, (I think!) My brother absolutely loves BART..goes from San Francisco to San Ramon all the time. I'm sure Barb and friends will help you out with the schedules. ^_^
Welcome to wonderful Northern California...and keep posting...the internet is everywhere! LOL
