Morning Cali Friends,

I use protein shakes (various ones) as milk has more sugar per grams of protein than I care for.  There so many now...you can probably find one you can live with as a supplement.  I use syntha 6 - isopure etc.
I also use click but it doesnt have a lot of protein compared to shakes....more of a protein with my coffee kinda thing.  I also have used things like unjury unflavored mixed into wendy's chili which is high protein and low fat/cal and tasty.  I also use Fage unflavored yogurt with 12 g protein i think and flavor it myself with splenda/vanilla and a few blueberries  and sometimes boost it with unjury unfl.
When early on I used a medical grade protein 'syrup' to get in my protein called PROSTAT 101 you can get at walgreens or cvs.  It is 15g for a two tablespoon serving 101 calories.  taste kinda lemon/honeyish.....not great but a small enough emount that can be slammed quickly.  I also started mixing it into my cup of warm tea/lemon.

Hope that helps
Debbie

These are all ideas you may want to try...Be sure "Pouchy" agrees with everything.  As you know when trying new things...Say "Pouchy, here is something new...Have a taste...Do you like it??"  She'll let you know soon enough.  Things that you might want to graduate early are; almond milk, soy milk, differnt plain nuts, Wendy's Chili with cheese, beef jerkey, chicken or beef vegetable soups, making your own crock pot stews (beef or chicken and vegetables).  Good luck, Brian  PS  Again, as you know, chew everything to a paste early on.

Try soy milk.  It has more protein in it than almond milk.  A couple brands to try are Silk and (my favorite) 8th Continent Vanilla in the refrigerated section.
Without struggle, there is no progress.

This was my life saver back in the day:  SF Chocolate Instant Breakfast mixed with Soy Milk and protein powder.  It was yummy.

The below is a copy and paste I did about a year ago...
Went to the local support group this evening...We had the hospital nutritionist as the guest speaker.  We had talked before, going through my surgery.  I e-mailed him yesterday and asked him about nuts...how much we should have and which nuts to avoid.  He spoke this evening on the subject.  Thought I would share a couple of the highlights (we know most of these things already).
He said try and limit the amount of nuts you consume throughout the day.  Nuts have great nutritional value but are high in oils and fats.  He recommended almonds and walnuts the most.  He said to try and avoid any nuts that have more than 2 grams of saturated fats per oz.  Below is the list of nuts he gave me...I'll add the fat and saturated fat tables to it.  Brian

Nut                   Fat                   Saturated Fat
Pistachios           13                    1.5
Almonds             15                    1
Cashews             13                    3
Macadamias       22                    3.5
Peanuts              14                    2
Pecans               21                    2
Walnuts             19                    1.5
Pumpkin             21                    2
Brazil nuts         18                    4
Pine Nuts           19                    1.5
Sunflower Seed 14                    1.5

you might also try almond milk or calorie countdown......both of those work well for people who can't do milk or milk products....

I am lactose intolerent, even pre op, but I use light vanilla soy milk in my shakes, I do not like the way it taste alone but it is great in shakes, I also like the Nectar shakes, they are great mixed with Crystal light, my favorite is the Fuzzty Navel mixed in orange Crystal light, you can also add soy milk and sf vanilla syrup for a great orange cream shake.
