The RIDE is on!! (updated 7/23)

Thank you all that sent prayers and good thoughts – the URL sold and the check is in hand/bank.  There will be enough so that we can take a vacation and Momma can go to the ‘hotel’ – going to have family & friends take care of the garden and animals – so we will have NO WORRIES at least for the week we are going AWAY!! Now it’s going to be dealing with what we need to get done before we go that is the fun part now.  Need to get the bikes serviced – that’s a duh – and have a couple things checked out on them.  Gary’s clutch slips a little and I’ve developed a coolant leak… It looks like its coming out under the tank – so probably just a loose hose.  Doing all of this AND our usual ‘stuff’… work, Momma, volunteer stuff, housework, new business… yeah fun days ahead

 

The RIDE will start from Sacramento, CA (most likely) Mel’s Diner EARLY (3 am ish – if they are open, if not some other restaurant near by – we need a witness of when we leave) and heading east on I-80… we want to go through the NV desert in the morning as much as possible… figure its 90* in Elko at 7 pm – so the day time would be HOT!!  We’ll continue on until we hit about Salt Lake City, then head south on I-15.  Then when we hit I-70 start heading east again to Denver.  Then we head north on I-25 until we hit Hwy 18/20 and we hang a right – keep following 18/85 – then Hwy 85 – to Newcastle, Wyoming!!  A total via AAA Trip Tik Planner of 1567.2 miles… we have to do 1500 miles in 36 hours… that’s the plan for the way out there.  It will need to be documented via gas receipts and witnesses; folks willing to answer a letter when it is sent.  If they don’t, then we won’t be verified and only WE will know we did it – LOL! Needless to say the ride home won’t be quite so pressed – but we will need to do a bit of riding to get home.  I think a week will work - I want to see Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore for sure… after that – I’m cool.  I’ve never seen a state park outside of CA unless the west side of NV has one.  I might have driven through some though in 86/87 when we went out to Arkansas/Illinois, but I don’t remember them very much… Not so much the state parks though – I’m looking forward to 1) concentrated time w/my husband.  Even if we end up NOT doing the ride – as long as I can have uninterrupted time with Gary WITHOU****ching Momma – I will be happy. 2) Having time away from Momma… I love her dearly.  She was more of a mother to me, than my own was.  That’s a story for another time though.  So caring for her is a given… but even parents need a break from their kids every now and again. 3) The CHALLENGE of the ride.  Even if we don’t complete the 1500 in 36 – just to attempt it!!  There is no way we would have even THOUGHT of doing this before surgery.  The loss of weight has given us freedoms we never knew we were missing!! 

 

I’m up a few pounds – yeah I know – quit my *****’en look how much you’ve gotten rid of!!  Still!!  My lowest is now 10 pounds away… and the Doctor’s goal is getting close again… I’ve put that as my RED line… I will NOT go over that again!!  So I’ve been doing more solid chicken – Oh yeah – I have a pouch!!  However today – after doing a delivery, Momma and I had lunch at Taco Bell.  We both had the Taco Salad… I was able (and did) eat the whole thing!!  Even the eatable bowl … I keep doing things like that… I know I shouldn’t, but I do it anyway.  Now it could be I’m in the middle of my cycle and its jus****er… but this bouncing around is scarier than just the downward slide.  I DO NOT want to be a failure!!  I don’t want people to say – oh she had RNY, but look at her now! Sigh… Having the ‘store’ I hope will keep me accountable for my eating.  I can’t ‘preach’ if I don’t ‘practice’ right?

 

Well enough of a book tonight – need to finish charting and get the little one to bed… then back to FaceBook – LOL!

DAMN - I seriously think we won't be able to do the ride now... I can't really be open about it on FB, my husband is on there - I KNOW he doesn't read here - because I'm the forum rat, and he just likes computer games (insert laugh here)... he was notified by his boss today that he has already interviewed 3 other people to fill Gary's position!! I am so stinking ticked at his boss!! I could go on and on and on about all that Gary has done for him for the last 15 (insert cuss word here) years that he has worked for him, but what good would it do. What timing though... we are going through mortgage modification (been playing with the mortgage company since December), we are dealing with his Alzheimer's mother, both of our hours have been cut and pay decreased, I've tried starting a new company - and have had some business, but I don't have the time to go out and 'sell' it like it needs because of Momma and work. Then just as I think we just might get away from it all for 1 (insert cuss word here) week with the sale of our URL - this comes up!! Yeah - if this had to happen, now is a better time than after we spent the $$ on a motorcycle trip, and investing in my business and paying WAY over due bills - now we will be hanging on to the $$ so that we won't be living out of our trucks (Ok - we aren't THAT bad off, but still)... so anyway - if you read through this - and have the inclination, I sure would appreciate a prayer or two... Thanks!!
