Hi I'm pre-op.  Does anyone know if we can have Milk isolate protein (as in muscle milk).  or does it have to be Whey protein?  The muscle milk is lactose free.  One whey protein i bought tasted watered down, but the Muscle milk has a great flavor.  Any advice is welcome.

My doctor said any protein was good. I did Muscle Milk Light in Chocolate Mint up until I discovered decaf skinny vanilla lattes at Starbucks. I asked my doctor if it was okay for almost all of my protein to come from milk products and he said yes. A venti latte has 16 grams of milk protein and 120 calories and it tastes really good. Hope this helps.

There are many forms of protein. Whey isolate protein is absorbed the easiest by RNY patients. When concentrate protein has lactose in it, whereas the whey isolate protein has almost all of the lactose removed.  Proteins can have a relatively wide variety of tastes, so you may just not prefer the one you tried.  Your post did not state whether you tried the isolate or concentrate form of whey.
