Greetings all.  I am new to the CA board, but not new to OH (I've been on OH for three years now so maybe I have been on before...lol) I had my surgery April 2007, and I've been keeping a normal bmi for about 2 years.  I had my surg at Valley Care Hospital (Pleasanton, CA) I would recommend them a 1000x's. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi there, Lilitu
We're practically neighbors, I'm in Sacramento. I, too, was a member of OH a while back but I had other medical issues I had to deal with (cancer) so WLS was out of the question. Now..... I'm back (cancer free 2 yrs) and waiting for a surgery date.  I have completed all my work-up except for the bloodwork which I will do on Monday (6/7).

Again, I just want to say welcome and hello!
Marie

Hi Neighbor   I am so happy to hear that you are doing so Well!! My darling DH had cancer this last summer. I did a lot of research and from what I have found the diet that you will need to stay on to keep up with your wls will help you stay Cancer Free.  I learned that Sugar (in all forms) feed cancer cells.  When is  you date??

Hi there, Lilitu,
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I do not have a date as of yet but hopefully will have one soon. I've completed all my testing and blood work. Once I get a date, I will get my chest X-ray.

I, too, did a lot of research when I was first diagnosed in 2005. After my mastectomy, I decided to lose weight on my own (at the time I weighed 317). In 2008, I was diagnosed with the colon cancer. I was eating better and was weighing 255. In May 2009, I weighed 229, then, the position I was in at work was eliminated after 16 years. Needless to say, I was devastated. So...... I went back to my bad eating habits.

I look forward to my WLS, not only to feel better, look better, but also to hopefully prevent any further diagnosis of cancer.
