Hi there!!  my friend needs WLS and just moved to the Colton area.  She needs someone to refer her to a Kaiser PCP that is pro WLS!!  I believe the Fontana Kaiser is the closest to her. but anywhere near her will be good.  She is SMO and doesn't have time to go to PCP's that are against WLS.  If anyone has any input it would be appreciated.  Thank you!

Hi,
I also live in Colton and have Kaiser. My PCP was Dr. Tony D. Cho. He referred me to the options program on our first ever meeting. He said he has had a few patients that have done well and that he thought I would do well.

Hope this helps your friend :)

WOW!!!  Thanks for the quick reply..You are a lifesaver.  She just doesn't have time to get a PCP who doesn't refer and then another and another and before you know it it's been 10 months lol...And who knows how long one has insurance nowadays with people losing jobs and such.  i will have her check into it.  In fact, I already sent her a text.  I  just hope his roster is open to take another patient.

If anybody else has anyother suggestions please let me know.  Just in case his roster is full.  Thanks!!

You might have your friend check with her insurance provider for the names of PCPs in her area, then call each one and ask the receptionist if there is some way to check about the attitude re: wls.

Good luck.

My Kaiser PCP is at Ontario-Vineyard and is Pro WLS. Her name is Dr. Khoo-Miyaki. I have been with her for almost 10 years and she is wonderful! Good luck to your friend. =)

And if she ends up with a pcp *****fuses to refer, all she needs to do is file a grievance. With her being SMO, she automatically meets the NIH criteria for wls, and a grievance will get her right into the program. There is someone who posts on the DS forum who actually had this happen with Kaiser in Southern CA, and the doc even tried to tell her that a grievance would just come fight back to him. Well, he was wrong, and she got into the bariatrics program with no further trouble.

Though, if it were me, I would also look for a different pcp after filing that grievance, as she would need a supportive pcp following her surgery.

Hey Larra!!!  I have been talking with her about the DS since October.  Sher had to wait until her husband got his insurance going again, so now she is interested in starting the process.  her mom, sister and best friend (me) had the RNY and she swore that she would never live like the way all 3 of us have.  She was skeptical of the DS until I took her to DSfacts.com and explained it all to her.  Thanks for all your help!
