Tom's Farm and old wounds...

I know I'm opening up a can of worms on this...But this has been crossing my mind as of late.  I still would love to see someone organize an LA gathering at Tom's Farm.  Yes, I watched while someone ran off with some money...and I watched while many of you had to deal with the fires that weekend last year when you scheduled the event.  I also know many of you have pretty much left OH and have gone on to other things (or sites like Facebook).  Also many of you sneak a peek here or there at OH but never respond because of past hurts...I understand.  It's just that a function at Tom's Farm sounded like such a great idea...a place where people can gather...No real cover charge (except buying a meal)...rides for the kids and grandkids...Unique shops...Easy access for LA and the Inland Empire...I could go on and on.  Just pipedreaming, but I would love to see someone take up that mantle and run with it.  Brian  PS  I still would love to go down there sometime if you ever have that function again...

Thanks Katt...Hope to make it.  Would love to see some oldtimers (OHers) bury the hatchet and show up.  We had some really good times on the Cali Board a few years ago.  Yes, I know we need to move on and such...  OK, I'll speak my mind!!  What ended up (no matter who said what) is you have several tight groups that hardly talk to other groups.  And if you take the side of one person...these other groups will reject you...Almost junior highish.  Hope to see some "Real" men and woman there at Tom's Farm who can work out some issues with others and move on in a positive way.  Just my thoughts.  Brian

I think that what has happened here is sad. Part of the problem is the disagreements that have taken place, but the other part is that it's just easier for me to spend time Facebook...and that's where I see all my OH friends.

When I posted on OH I personally preferred to stay on-topic. I posted about weight-loss, fitness, nutrition, etc...  Rarely did I mention my personal life, job, family except for maybe when it intersected with my weight loss journey. I just didn't like to reveal a lot about me in this forum where anyone could lurk and read about it.

On Facebook I talk about all the other parts of my life, and I know that only "friends" see it. SO it's rare that I come back here.

I don't know how to begin to address all the past hurt that has taken place here. There is so much that could be said about acceptance, forgiveness, maturity, pride, judgement and friendship. Where do we begin?

This community once extended beyond the message boards. People met, went out, had fun together and then it all went south. Sometimes I think part of the problem was that some people couldn't set proper boundaries. Making this community your entire life is too much, making friendship from this site your entire life is too much, and that's when things get out of hand. Perhaps it's just an extension of not setting proper boundaries with food. Too much of a good thing can be bad for you.

Anyhow, I'd love to see some folks again. It reminds me to stay on track and to stay healthy.

Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

Very well said, Brian. It's time to let go of the silly things that we let offend us...and if those who hold onto them want to use them to cause division, then that is their issue, not ours.

Let's all get together and have a blast!!

Hey............I'm still here.  Yet, "here" is waaaay up North in Redding.  I check in once in a while and drop a zinger or two when necessary, however I've been so flippin' busy I hardly have any time to get on the computer off work hours.

Unfortunately my home computer had an over-heating issue and the wireless card is totally gone and the mother board has issues.  It's not quite a boat anchor yet, but still works.

I made 2 trips down to the southern part of the state and met some wonderful people.  Some I chat with a few times a week and others once or twice a month.  Excellent friendships.  I was hoping to make a couple of trips this year, but between my kids and the IRS they all took whatever play money I could even think of having.

Plus, my hubby bought me a purple Harley Davidson.  I spend all my weekends riding and it's AWSOME!!!!

I do miss the support and need to try to come back daily and post.  I need some support now that I'm nearing the 2 year mark and have added a little junk back in my trunk.  I need to have a garage sale and get rid of that crap!!!

Miss this site and a lot of the people here more than I realized.    I'm BaaaaaCK!
