Cindy's Checking in...(it's been several weeks!)
Greetings California,
I'm sorry I haven't been online in several weeks so I decided to check in this morning with all of you and share an update. I'm looking forward to meeting many of you in person this coming weekend at the OH Conference in Costa Mesa. Two of my new friends (that I met here on OH) and I will be coming up from San Diego.
I am now 4 1/2 months post op (RNY 1-6-2010) and have lost 60 lbs since surgery and 95 lbs total since I started my weight loss journey on 10-30-09 (1st appt with Bariatric Dr. and weighed my highest of 332!). I weighed 237 this morning so I am only 5 lbs away from hitting the "century" mark. I'm not sure where I want my final goal weight to be...right now, I'm just aiming for "onederland"!!! But it would be nice to weigh less than 175 so I could lose the "obese" status in my BMI.
The first 2 or so months post op - I checked OH & ThinnerTimes daily and wrote in my food journal. Then as my weight started falling off and my energy increased, I also had to go back to work and my life started getting so busy that I didn't have as much time to spend online. I can't remember the last WWW I posted in (and now I see TTT). Did it change?
Everything is going very well for me. I'm getting in my 60-80 g of protein per day, taking all of my supplements and exercising 3-5x per week (I discovered a new workout in San Diego called HulaMoves which is similar to Zumba but with Hawaiian music/moves! Check out www.myhulamoves.com to learn more!!!). I still need to drink more liquids...I've been in the 40-50 oz range per day but I just can't seem to get in 64 oz. I attend a monthly support group at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla. I am never hungry and have no cravings/urges to make bad food choices. I dropped from a size 30/32 to a 18/20. I celebrated my 40th Birthday a few weeks ago and my mantra this year is "Fit at 40!".
I am very happy with my decision to have the RNY and have embraced my new healthier lifestyle. Even though I have not spent a lot of time on here lately - I did spend hundreds of hours on OH a few months before/after my WLS and found it to be a very valuable resource.
Hopefully I will get to meet many of you in person at the conference next weekend. Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement. I wish you all the best on your own weight loss journey.

Hi Cindy,
Congrat's on the fabulous weight loss. I understand more than you know about life getting in the way of posting on the boards. You are doing an awsome job.
WWW is still here for weight gain/loss.
TTT is the total for the week. Nothing has changed.
Looking forward to meeting you at the conference as well.

Hey Cindy~
From a fellow "Cindy" who is also in San Diego! I also had my surgery at Scripps Green/La Jolla but it was four years ago (last week).
I didn't know that Scripps was still doing their monthly support meetings - what day/time are they held? I haven't been to one in a long time (my BAD!) and would love to attend one. If you get a chance, reply and let me know when the next one is being held. I'd really like to go, and maybe we can meet IRL.
Heartfelt congrats on your sucess so far. You're doing great!

Hi Cindy,
Thanks for posting a reply to me. It's nice to meet another "Cindy" who also lives in San Diego and Scripps Green...we have so mu*****ommon already! Yes, I'd like to meet you in person.
Yes, Scripps still has a monthly support group that meets the 2nd Monday of each month at the Schneizel Center at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla from 5:30-6:30 pm. There are about 20-30 people that attend with a range of a few pre-ops to post-ops as long as 10 years ago and everything in between. Dr. Fuller, one of the 2 surgeons that do WLS at Scripps attends almost every month, along with Marnie & Janet, the Dieticians. Everyone is very supportive and shares severals ideas and strategies for being successful. There is also a variety of RNY, Lapband and Sleeve patients there. I hope you can make the next one. I have gone every month since last December and will try to make each one unless I am out of town on a business trip (I travel frequently for work).
How are you doing on your weight loss journey?
Please keep in touch!
