Anyone have Dr Janos Taller-San Diego

I'm a Kaiser patient, and have gone through the 24 week classes, done my blood work, now  I'm meeting with Dr. Taller--Pacific bariatric this coming week.
I've heard He is good, but not alot of help after the surgery.  Some former patients have told me that 2 weeks after surgery they were told they could eat what they wanted!!!!  No suggestions.
The other surgeons there have strict rules for what their patients can eat, 2 weeks, 4 week longer after surgery.
I need to be told what I can eat, I will be like a babe in the woods without the strong support of my surgeon, telling me how to proceed with my food intake after surgery and beyond.

If you've had surgery with him, please let me know how his after surgery care is.  I'm a little worried.

 yes he is my and my hubby's doctor  is great. I hope to have our op soon. still fighting with inc our some stuff but the office  staff is great they have been very helpful.I have ppo so thing are different for us sorry can't help. now I am worried about after op I will ask / you should do the same at your app. see what he says let me know I am not sure when we go to see him again?
 

Hello there, I had the pleasure of Kaiser options class in San Diego also.  All though my surgeon was not the same as yours, Pacific B will give you a book or a disk of exactly what they want you eating the first few months.  Just remember get your water and protein down and walk!!  The rules can be strict with what we can eat and I think the hardest thing I dealt with at that time was head hunger.

When you meet with the Dr this week tell him your concerns, I am sure he will answer. The after care while you are in the hospital is extremely good and the options people (Karen) will keep in contact with you for the labs.  The Positive Choice center also has a nutritionist, I never went but it was suggested.  I just wasn't sure that they would understand the needs of us RNY people.

Don't worry, I remember it was a lot to grasp right before surgery but you will soon realize that your about to make one of the best choices in your life!!

Dr. Taller was my surgeon in Feb of this year and he has been amazing. He will release you to soft foods at about 2 weeks and will give you a list if you ask for one, i did and he was more than willing to provide one.  I have had a complication with my surgery by developing a stricture and he has been there for me 100%. I call the office often and he always returns phone calls. He is more than willing to help his patients after surgery.

Plus pacific bariatric gives you a handbook to help with guidelines for food. I hope that you have a great consultation and a wonderful surgery.

I met with Dr. Taller today and was blown away, He is amazing.  He took as much time with my husband and me as we needed , and answered All our questions!
Does anyone have any thoughts on RNY vs. the sleeve?  Or have that surgery?
Kaiser now covers the sleeve also.  It seems and sounds great.  I was told i am appx. 3 weeks from my surgery, so I have to make up my mind as to which one to choose.

I have the same surgeon as yours . I have not yet gotten my surgery but I went to see Dr taller 7/14/10 and have a surgery date of 8/4/2010. I am very excited, how has your experience been and what operation did you end up getting? I will be getting the vertical sleeve .
