Support Group Meeting 5-6-10 @ Lkwd. Regional

Good Evening Everyone,

Just wanted to post a reminder for a support group meeting tomorrow at Lakewood Regional Medical Center.

Time:  6:30 pm
Address:  3700 E. South St.  Conference Area, Room A

I will be there to check out this meeting as I was not thrilled with the meetings at LB Memorial.  Most patients at LB Memorial were bandsters and very little support for the RNY patients.  I am hoping this turns out to be a much better group for me at Lkwd. Regional is just 2 blocks from my house.

There is a possibility of a couple of people from the OH Magazine to be in attendance as well to talk about the upcoming conference in Costa Mesa.

Hi Annette,  My name is Donna and I have been looking for a support group that is closer than FV or LB.  I live in Norwalk and Lakewood would be much closer for me.  What time are the meetings there and what nights are they?  I had my RNY in Dec. 08 and I am about 100 lbs down, with about 40 more to go.  I am also going to the conference in Costa Mesa, are you? Would love to meet you at the meeting, please let me know the info.   Thank you

I went to the meeting tonight and you and I have the same surgeon.  Let me tell you, I will not go back to that support group.  They had great discussions but unless you are a patient of Dr. T whoever he is with bellflower hospital, I walked away with the impression that there is no better program than that offered by their surgeon.  Last time I check OCMMC was a circle of excellence hospital where Bellflower is not.

I will gladly post or send you a private message with the information tomorrow.

I work in Norwalk between San Antonio & Pioneer on Front Street.  Maybe we could get together for lunch one day.

I wish I could get to the meeting in FV as I think they would be benificial but alas I don't feel like getting on the freeway after working all day to go to a meeting.  Some day I will actually go.

I am going to the convention and staying both nights.  I will be participating in the fashion show as well.  Are you interested in walking the cat walk?  If so, look for a post by Katt (kattitude) as I believe they are still looking for some other people to join in.

What support group do you go to in LB?  I did the one at Memorial a couple of times, but found the leader very boring, and most patients were lap band where I am RNY.

I am just over 100 lbs down with about another 50 to go.  We could do this together.

Thank you for responding to my message so quickly.  I am very interested in coming to the next meeting in Lakewood, I hope it is a good one.  I am in need of a support group. I have not lost any weight in 6 months.  I have not been following the basics like I did for the first year.  At my highest wt, I was 326, at surgery, my wt. was 301, and now I am at 215.  I want so much to reach that 100 lb. mark, but for some reason, I think it is a mental thing with me.  I go up and down from 215 to 202 and back up again??  I really do need the support.
I am going to the conference  both days as well, but don't think I will be staying there.  I am looking forward to meeting you and others there, I am sure it will be a fun weekend.  As for the fashion show, I am not feeling too comfortable right now in my clothes, think I will watch.  My family thinks I should go for it, but am not sure myself.    Hope we can get together before the conference, would love to meet you.  Take care, talk to you soon!   XOXO Donna
