Mom having trouble finding plastic surgeon
I am hoping someone here might be able to help.
My mom had VSG 2 years ago and dropped ~150 pounds. She has held steady for almost 9 months now and is exploring plastic surgery to remove some excess skin around her body. She has been to a couple surgeons who wouldn't treat her because a) she is on cumadin(SP) or b) they only operate when it's to alleviate a serious medical condition.
My mother's insurer is tri-care and she is located in San Diego. Does anyone out there have a recommendation for WLS friendly plastic surgeons in San Diego (who accept tri-care)?
I know this is a stretch, but I figure if anyone knows, it's you gals.
Thanks!

I've listened to at least 2 plastic surgeons who routinely work on wt loss patients. It's normally recommended you wait for 2 years or until your weight has stabilized for 6 months BEFORE you have plastic surgery done. Dr. Batra has a web site http://www.coastalplasticsurgeons.com/ . He does over 70 plastic surgeries per year on wt loss patients. I've personally spoken to at least 4 women in my 4 support groups who have used him for plastic surgery, and they are very happy with their results. All of them had quick recovery periods from his surgeries. Most plastic surgeons will have patients go off of cumadin for a short period of time prior to surgery, to avoid complications. He's in the San Diego area, but he's spoken of patients fly in from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii for his surgeries. DAVE
