Hey kevin,
I use Kaiser Fontana and my PCP is Dr. Tony D. Cho. He approved me for the options program the first time we met and did not have a problem with wls. He said he actually had a few patients that were very successful with it. I hope this helps a little and I hope your friend finds a good doc no matter what.

My PCP is with Kaiser Inglewood...Dr. Pilar Mina. We never really "discussed" WLS but she referred me to the Options program. Before my referral I saw the Nurse Practicioner for everything so this was my first visit and she did the referral with no problem. And I've seen her since and she always comments on how well I've done.

My PCP is at Kaiser Vineyard in Ontario. Her name is Daisy Khoo-Miyaki. Great doc. I've been with her for almost 10 years.

Try Dr. Kenneth Burns out of the Sunset facility. He did not recommend wls for me (because I was with another dr. at that time), but he empathic to someone who is struggling with weight loss.

Without struggle, there is no progress.

My recommendation is to have your friend call the Options coordinator and they'll be able to provide a few WLS doctor's.
