Will this last?

I feel so terrific.  I feel like doing something for the first time in years.  I have been happy spending weekends at home watching TV and playing RPGs.

So here is my question.  I am still on disability.  Will I start to feel tired and want to stay home on weekends when I go to work.  Is this just a honeymoon period?

I understand no one has a chrystal ball, I don't think my stepmother visits this site.  What have other people experienced?

Hey,I just noticed that you are super close to Mastinez, where I live. I have an online support group that meets in the group section this Saturday at 10 am until 11 am. Maybe if you aren't busy you could log on and tell us how everything went. I have lots of questions for anyone who has actually made it to the procedure recently. Anyway.... if you have time. I'm glad you are feeling so great. Can't wait to be there:)

To be totally honest, you will have good days and bad days. That is just the  nature of this thing. Kind of like life in general.

Next Sat. is the Nor Cal luncheon at CoCo's in Concord. New Barb posts about it. You two should consider going you will meet some wonderful people and have fun. I can't make it this month because of other plans but I hope you will go. It starts at 12:00.

Hi There!

I live in Concord too!!! Welcome and so happy to hear you are feeling well.  I too felt great after surgery, just a little soreness upon sitting and standing.  I was off for 2 1/2 weeks and went to work doing just fine.  Your body will tell you if you need to rest, it did take a little time to adjust to getting back to work but I had no problems.  If you can, try to walk a little each day and that will really help too.

As Elizabeth told you, we will be having our Nor Cal Luncheon next Sat at CoCo's on Treat in Concord at noon.  We have a wonderful group of friends from all over the Bay Area and we meet for lunch or outings once each month.  We'd love to have you join us.  See my post down a little and I will send a reminder over the weekend.  We also do a clothing exchange too.

Hope to see you and anyone who wants to join us for lunch!

I am a week behind you.  I have periods of feeling terrific and periods where I crash a burn.  I have been walking 2 miles per day, but if I try to add a cognitive activity like taking an online course, I am overwhelmed by evening.  Yesterday I did my walk, and later drove my self the 15 miles to see the surgeon.  Thought I would try a little shopping when I was done, but instead came straight home and took a nap.  I think I can do more than my body is ready for.  Thought I would go back to work in 3 weeks.  I am grateful now that the MD wants me out 6!

Everyone is different.  Follow your MD instructions and listen to your own body.

Best wishes and peace to you!

I know it doesn't feel like it, but this is major surgery! It does take time to heal. But it is so worth everything we go through!

I have good and bad days too. I went back to work last week and felt great, but Monday all I could do was sleep. Today is my 3rd day in a row at work and all I want to do is sleep as well. It comes and goes in waves. If you have a day where all you want to to is post on the couch and crash, then do it. But when you have those days when you feel great, get out and do something! It makes you feel so much better.
Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback.  I feel good and think I should go back to work, so I appreciate your permission to stay off.  My doctor wants me off until my 2 week appointment at least anyway.  I know I need to take this time and make sure I am ready.
