I had the lapband 2 yrs ago and just found out that I am 7 weeks prgnt. Totally unexpected and still surprised. Band is still in place - not loosened for pregnancy. Need any and all advice that you all can provide. I have not told my husband yet, just got the news minutes ago.

Well my best advice is tell your husband! Actually that is the only advice as I had the RNY. I would like to offer congratulations. I know it is the last thing you expected but it is still going to be ok. Do you have other kids? Things seem to turn out the way they are supposed to!

Have you only lost 22 pounds in 2 years? I am happy for your pregnancy and I hope everything goes well for you health wise.

Sorry that I have not updated my ticker - I am actually on 25 lbs from goal.  Thanks for pointing that out.  I was a little surprised this morning.  I thought I was going through early menopause

I had RNY just over 2 weeks ago and I have no experience with pregnancy after WLS.  However I had my first and only child at age 44--came back from Hawaiian vacation with a little souvenir, if you get my drift.  I weighed 245 at the time and my MD sent me to a high risk OB practice which should be a consideration for you.  My MDs  goal was for me to maintain my weight through out pregnancy.

By practicing what I know you must already know, I did maintain and delivered a healthy full term baby girl WITHOUT a c-section which they had told me to anticipate.

Best wishes and peace to you!

Thanks for all your comments - we are still in shock - our youngest is graduating from high school in 5 weeks.  I guess we will be the joke at the family reunion this year.  Still can't believe it.

I just wanted to say congrats to you!! My husband is wanting one more. We have 3 kids, one is mine and two are with him. We have been talking about it. I told him that if it happens it will happen. It is in god's hands. I am 38 and had my last baby at 34. I am just so happy for you. What a wonderful blessing!

Hugs,

Dawn

your story sounds a bit like how mine will be.  I go to the same dr's as you - Dr. Sanchez, and I'm getting my lapband done wednesday 4/28/2010.  My hubby is on prison and won't get out until June 2011 and we want to have kids then, but I'll be 39 when we start trying.  Dr Sanchez told me he would totally work with me and if I needed my band losened for more nutrients, he would and if I want it revised afterwards to the sleeve he would do so.  (I'm a medicare pt who insurance hasn't figured out how to pay for the procedure yet, but thinks it is a great one)
