Hello CA!

I'm looking for information about the John Muir Support Group.  I think it happens the second Saturday of the month from 10-12.  Can anyone give me more details like where it's held etc.

Much appreciated!  Happy weekend.

hi barb, a little birdie told me that you are the one who has the info for these monthly luncheons and such and I am very interested in seeing what it's all about and coming to one of these shin-digs. My name is LeAnne wright and I live in Hercules and work at John Muir hospital in Walnut Creek and had my surgery at the Concord campus on Feb 23rd of this year.I am struggling to find friends who we all have this in common with and to meet people face to face, not just chattering behind a computer. I want to be part of this little world, this reality and make some good friends! Any info you could give me about these luncheons would be most appreciated. If you are at the suport group tomorrow, maybe you could give a run-down for those of us who are still new to this game. I am looking forward to meeting all of you. Maybe we should all wear something really obnoxious like pink wigs or, mouse ears, or highlighter yellow t-shirts. something outrageous! just a thought. i need to go to sleep now.
see you guys and gals in the morning!!!

Hey Leanne,

Sorry I had to scoot out after the meeting today and didn't get a chance to meet you in person, but I think I know who you are.  Hope to see you at the luncheons, we're such a fun group and we'd love to have you join us.

Barb

P.S. if you need help getting an avatar posted let me know and I would be happy to assist you.  Just let me know and I will send you my e-mail and then you can send me the pic you want to use.  I will resize it for you and e-mail it back to you and you can upload it.

Hey Barb,
I saw you too. I almost had to laugh out loud when I recognized you and the other gal. It was like I saw celebrities lol! I was across the room from you in the jeans and black sweatshirt with the story of having the 2 surgeries. It seemed like people totally bailed quick when the meeting was over. I am hoping to come to the luncheon. It is my weekend off so I will see what I can do. It sounded like alot of people were interested, so maybe alot more people will come.
Hope to talk to you soon!

I will be there too!! Good to see some locals here! Awesome!. I missed the one last month because of my 2nd surgery I had (intestinal complications) but am looking forward to going tomorrow. If I could figure out how to post a pic of me on my profile, then I would be easy to spot. But I will probably be one of the newbies to get up and talk about my recent surgeries and how much I have lost so far and just chat with everyone. I do have a question though. Would it be totally weird and out of line for me to bring in some old clothes. Like, is there ever a clothing exchange of some sort during these meetings? I know I should just take them to the Goodwill or the thrift store like I always do, but I have some really nice clothes and I like to be able to pass them along to someone who will appreciate them. Also, I have these Isotope clear protein drinks that I just cannot stomach. I am willing to give them another chance, and to drink them ice cold to see if that makes a difference. I am able to do a bit more chugging now and not have to sip sip sip everything so much anymore. I will try one on ice in the morning, but if it makes me puke, I will bring these drinks to the meeting and whoever wants then can have them for free.
Oh now I am really excited about seeing you all in the morning!!!

Hi Leanne,

I've never been to one of the John Muir meetings so I haven't a clue about format or what happens there.  That said, I don't think it's a bad thing to bring clothes to share.  You could even leave them in the car and just say, I have Size X clothes in my car to give away to anyone interested.

I think we're about the same weight, or I'd jump on it in a second!

I'll be there with my friend Bonnie who's tiny.  So look for the two of us and say hello!
