Inspirational Quote NOT from Mandela

Hi all,

Being inspired by Barb's quote on her "What I am Thankful for" post, I went to find the full prose and discovered it's been attributed to Nelson Mandela incorrectly since 1994. It's actually from a book by someone else, but regardless of who wrote it, it brings tears to my eyes and inspires me. I hope you all enjoy this.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so
that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other
people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."

Ms. B.

That's awesome.  I am so glad you shared that.  I think I will copy that and put it up in my office.  I have all sorts of things like that in my office so people can read them and I get comments all the time on how they love them.

Hugs and love my friend,
Barb

Hey Ms....

Thanks for posting this.  I've been in appreciation of this for many years and did know the original author of it.  I love reading it and taking in the beautiful message.
