Hello all! So i had my surgery last week thursday on March 25th. I feel well the only symptoms of surgery that I have are maybe getting tired when i'm out and about from time to time. I get a little bit sore but nothing rest can't handle. I held down water fine in the hospital and since ive been home ive started my protein shake and have held that down fine too. Now here comes the questions. My doctor said it was okay to start the soft foods ( cottage cheese, 1/2 egg, yougurt) and so on. Is this too soon,. its has been about a week and 2 days. I tried a tiny bit of all three and it seemed to go fine but i really dont want to be rushing things, I went through the kaiser classes and I prepared myself in every way i could but I feel so LOST! Help!

Congrats!!! You're doing great!

Follow your surgeon's protocol over anything you'd hear on the net. For you, individually, you may discover that some things will not agree with you. Just don't eat them.

For example, it was a good year before I could keep eggs down, but now I'm just fine.

My surgeon's instructions included starting soft foods at about 2 weeks which sounds close to what you were given. Just remember that everyone's experience is very different, there is no other pouch in the world just like yours. :)

Good luck!

Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

How exciting we had surgery on the same day. I would stick with what the doc says. Everyone's doctor is different. I know for my program I need to have 2 weeks of liquids then 2 weeks of cream of wheat and soups. Your doctor knows you and your needs. You will do great. I am kinda jealous. What I wouldn't give for something that isn't a protein drink! Take your fear as a sign that you care-it is good. Let me know how it goes...since i will be right behind you in a couple of weeks.

Sounds like a plan. My protein powder is about 27 grms per serving.  I have different flavors that I am trying out. I find strawberry is my favorite since I got sick of chocolate before surgery. I drink mine with fat free milk. That adds 9 grams of protein. My stomach has done fine with it. I am looking forward to next Thursday to add some new things in the mix. How was Easter for you? I did fine with having the candy around. It was the salty stuff that gave me temptation. I never thought ham could be a star of my dreams...but it has been for 2 nights now. HAHA.

easter sucked. Food looked great and I had none! lol but i made it through. My protien has 27 grams also at least with one scoop. I might try 2 scoops next week. just so i can get like 52 grams. i crave chips chips and more chips. it has always been my downfall. I really want some. lol even now!My stomach has done fine with everything. i try to keep it slow and safe. Cuz i don't want to get sick. I'm going to try ougurt tomorrow. Wish me luck! And Ham dreams. thats hilarious!

Congrats! I had my sleeve done on the 29th so just a few days after you. I am jealous you get to eat already, I only get 1 protein shake a day and water, tea, or crystal light unil I see my doc on the 15th. I can wait just to actually have something other than liquid, I mean he won't even let me have broth! Again, congrats and keep me updated on how you are.

Congrats on your sleeve. Hang in there-the days will fly by. This summer we wll all be wearing swimsuits and looking forward to going shopping. I wore jeans today and am regreting the button digging into my tummy all day. Protein drinks, protein drinks, and more protein drinks. If I never have chocolate, strawberry, and or vanilla again that would be fine by me. Tomorrow I start on the next phase of my diet. Wish me luck.
