Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if any of you have tried this 50 Gram Slam yet?  I found it on the GNC website and was curious to get your opinion.  Here is the nutritional info from the label:

Calories 240, Calories from fat 10, Total Fat 1.00 g, Saturated Fat 0.05 g, Cholesterol 40.00 mg, Sodium 140.00 mg, Total Carb 8.00 g, Sugars 4.00 g, Protein 50.00 g, Vitamin A -0-, Vitamin C -0-, Calcium 1200.00 mg, Iron 0.36 mg.

It has a very high protein count and little sugar or carbs.  There were only 2 comments on thier board which were good, but noted it was chaulky, and a little pricey.

I struggle with anything that I can smell & taste the vitamins.  Gag City.

Just looking for your opinion.  For now I will stick with muscle milk in my coffee and as a drink when necessary on it's own.

From what I've gathered over the years, we can only absorb about 25-30 g of protein in a meal anyway, so why buy something that is actually 2 servings?

GNC also carries the Isopure drinks as well as the Zero and Low-carb protein powders, and I LUV the Dutch Chocolate Low-Carb protein powder.  I have had it for breakfast for 5 years!

Taking the expense into account, this may not be a good fit for you, but if it tastes good and you can get it down okay, then go for it!

That 25-30 g thing is a myth, btw.

From "ASMBS Allied Health Nutritional Guidelines for the Surgical Weight Loss Patient"

"One popular myth is that only 30 g/hr of protein can be absorbed. Although this is commonly found in both lay and some professional literature, there is no scientific basis for this claim."

I suggest you get some samples from places like vitalady etc. try different ones without the expense of buying the big tubs that you will not like.

there are plenty out there that have no taste or taste good.

    Just my opinion.
