Kinda long Vent...
So I am 6 weeks out as of today. I have had a rough 6 weeks so far. When I started to introduce soft foods I couldn't tolerate them. I ended up in the hospital twice due to strictures. I had one that was dilated, I was released home and ended up back in the hospital 3 days later. I was severely dehydrated and weak. I had the stricture dilated again and was released home once again. I am doing ok and had my third stretch yesterday. I was stretched to 10mm but my surgeon says I need to be at 12mm.
I am just having a hard time. My first 2 GI appointments were great but the one yesterday was just awful. The doctor pretty much insinuated that it was my fault since I had had surgery. And when I asked when the next stretching was going to be she said "you know we cant just keep doing these". I was completely shocked. I even had to ask my driver if I was hearing right since I was still kinda out of it. I told my surgeon and he apologized even though it wasn't his staff and he couldn't believe any health care professional would talk to me in that manner.
So right now I am trying to stay positive and keep my chin up. I am just frustrated and very emotional today. I have no idea what is going on with my emotions since I find myself crying for no real reason at all (unless I am throwing myself a pity party

I know this will get better in time and I know that it will all be worth it. I am still glad that I had the surgery. Anywho thanks for letting me vent.

That sucks. I'm sorry you're going through this.
I'd call that Dr's office back and give them a piece of my mind though. What a jerk!

Yeah, I don't know if it's because there's discrimination against overweight people or something else...I have this happen a lot with doctor's for my mom who is elderly....but, sometimes these medical professionals are used to treating people like crap because no one ever stands up to them.
I gave an earful to my mom's primary care doctor and I could tell he wasn't used to it. He was prescribing her something that was so wrong for her.
Good for you, I'm glad you sttod up for yourself. Hang in there, it's going to get better!

I am so sorry you had to go through that. You did the right thing by switching the doctors. Sometimes they just lack common sense. I worked for an Onocologist who was a brilliant mind medically but absolutely had no common sense.
I will hold you in my thoughts and prayers that you will be on the mend soon.
Hugs,
Barb

Kudos for switching Doc, lord known this is hard enough with a supportive medical team we dont need it even harder with a non supportive member of the team.
