Plastics In Bay Area Question

 Hello CA Board,

It's been awhile. My life has been so crazy busy I have not even been on the board in sooooo long! I have a long commute since I moved, and when I get home, it's all about getting everything ready for the next day, then to bed for my 4:30 am wake up call!!

Man, I need to change my avatar pic too!

Anyway, I am going to be having plastic surgery in June. I had a lower body lift 18 months ago, and because of all the skin that was removed from that, my hips are hideous! I've always carried my weight in my lower body, and now, I have the hardest time even getting pants to fit. I have to always wear a belt, or elastic waists, because the size of my waist is so small in comparison to my upper thighs.

Ok, so I have been checking out plastic surgeons in the SF Bay Area. I met with Michelle Place in Danville, who has a good name, and her prices seem very reasonable. Her charge for extensive lipo to the outer thighs, and inner knees, and a little spot above an incision line from my lbl, is $4,350....she will do that, and a neck lift for $9,100.

I'm also met with Dr Kevin Degnan, and he'll give me a quote on Monday. And, I have an appt with Dr Prescott in Walnut Creek Monday afternoon.

Have any of you heard of these three? And if yo have, do you have any opinions one way or the other? Also, do you have any surgeons in my area that you recommend....or don't recommend?

Any help is appreciated!

Janel

I haven't heard of them, except Prescott sounds vaguely familiar.

However, there is Dr. Eric Mariotti right in Concord where you are whose patients swear by him. He's on my short list of surgeons to interview if I ever get the money together for plastics.

Hi Marie,

Great seeing you today, you look as great as usual.  Looking forward to seeing you next month too.  Are you going to come to Santa Cruz in May?

Hugs,

I live in Concord too.  I am lucky that I have 3 family members and a couple of friends that are in the medical field in the Concord & Walnut Creek area.  When I asked each of them who they would recommend the first name they all gave me was Dr. Eric Mariotti in Concord.  Dr. Mariotti has done my arm lift, tummy tuck, butt lift, breast augmentation and some outer thigh lipo.  All of the 3 surgeons you mentioned have good reputations as well.  Dr. Mariotti does alot of work with massive weightloss patients.  Remember when asking about prices to find out if post op appts. are included in the quote or if you will need to pay for them seperately.  I know a couple of people that chose a less expensive surgeon only to be charged for each pos op appt. which ended up costing them more in the long run.   Dr. Mariotti's prices include ALL post op appts., even if you have a problem 2 years after surgery he does not charge for an office visit that far out.
Good luck

Hey Lisa & Janel,

Come out to our luncheon some time, we're now at Coco's in Concord on Treat.  We'd love to see you both.  We'll be there next on April 24th and then in May we're doing our luncheon in Santa Cruz.  Come join us.

I'd have my plastics done by Dr. Mariotti in a minute, I really liked him all the times I've met him and Ron is very comfortable with him as well.  One of these days!

Miss you both...

Hugs,
Barb

I had a blast the 2 times I came to the lunches.  I have had plans already on the days of the lunches for the last few months.  Santa Cruz sounds like fun.  I will have to check my calendar, if free I will be there.

I hear that Marrioti is good, but that he is so pricey....I did have an appt for a consult with him but I cancelled it. Maybe I should go ahead and reschedule it just to check him out...one never knows.

Thanks!

He is more than some surgeons but you need to keep in mind that his price does include ALL follow up appts.  A friend of mine went to another surgeon who was about  less than Dr. Mariotti but then she had problems and ended up paying alot more because she had to pay an office visit fee for each time she went in to see her surgeon after the surgery.  The cost charged was for the surgery ONLY, it did not include any follow up visits.  Dr, Mariotti has done some revision work in his office and not charged me for any of it.  One that he did was almost 2 years after the initial surgery.  To me it is worth the peace of mind to know everything is covered prior to the surgery, I don't need to worry about coming up with additional money for any visits and procedures he can do in his office for any complications from his procedure.
You should definately talk to him, he will be very honest with you about what you can expect after surgery.  He is not one of those "anything you want, sure I can do it" plastic surgeons.  He will be honest with you and I have never been disappointed by the results of any of my procedures.

I know that Dr Place's price covers all follow up and revisions....I will be sure to ask the other also.

Thanks!
