Calling Long-Term Post-Ops *Costa Mesa Conference
I have a question for long-term post-ops: How do you feel about the OH conferences?
I'm asking because I LOVE the fire and energy the conferences give me, but I'm not sure they meet my needs now that I am 8 years out. What do you think?
I have been checking the events page and I see the same things as before: usually pre-op and newbie focus (which is needed, but what about the rest of us?). Is it just me? As a support group leader, I feel the responsibility of making sure members' needs are met for me to encourage them to attend a conference.
I have been talking to Kim (in events) about how to incorporate post-op issues/concerns such as the weight regain, supplements and deficiencies, getting back ontrack, etc..., but could there be more?
What are your thoughts? What would get you to go to the conference? How can OH meet your needs as a long-term post op?

The conferences are geared toward pre-ops and post-ops up to about 3 years. After that it is the same ole same ole, same drs, same issues, same plastics guys....nothing for post-ops over 3 years and the issues we face. I could write a book on the post op issues I have from year 3 to my almost 10 years.
If you want to socialize they are good. Meals are not the best....too expensive.....too far away for most.
That's my opinion....nice seeing you...:)

...and when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly...on a broomstick.
We are flexible.

That is my concern, Darlene.
I know many of us could use a boost. :)
I know OH wants to support our needs as well, that's why I'm hoping we can get some ideas from others. I got some from my support group members (I forwarded those requests to Kim), but I know we have many people here on the forum who would like to see their needs addressed.
Being almost ten years out... what would you suggest?
