Good news on the diabetes front

Hi all,

Usually I dread going to my endo (diabetes doc) where I usually hear all about all the things I am doing wrong or how I could be doing everything better.  Today though, for the first time since I've been diagnosed with diabetes, around 6 years ago, my A1c was in the normal range!!! For those of you who are fortunate enough not to have diabetes, it means my average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months were at levels a non-diabetic would have!!! While I am still using insulin to get me to this level, it is such an improvement from where I was before while using insulin.

My blood pressure was also low so my medication for that has been cut in half and my dose of insulin has been cut in half for my short acting insulin and my long acting insulin. I know it's not perfect, but I am much closer to being off these medications than I was before.

Also my triglycerides are normal!!!! I am below 150!!! I was at 500 a year ago. Woo Hoo!

My journey isn't a fast one compared to others, but it's in the right direction!

That is Fabulous!  I know mine has been "normal" since my surgery as well!

By the way, I'm training for the Wharf to Wharf in July, going to walk with some friends from the CHOMP Advanced WLS support group.  Wanna go with us?

I've recently moved into Santa Cruz--living in the redwoods was just too far from civilization.

Hi Lynn,

I would love to be in the Wharf to Wharf. For all these years I've followed it, I never thought about actually being in it. I am also very interested in the support group you belong to. Is it local?

What is the distance for the Wharf to Wharf?

Thanks,

MsBlues

PS - Can you send me a personal message with your contact info and I'll do the same.

Ms Blues -

All that and more for such an awsome job you are doing.  Considering all the obstacles you have gone through and are still dealing with my hat is off to you.  By now I probably would have thrown in the towel.

I understand having your med's cut in half, this is exactly how I started off.  I now only have 2 left and hope for them to be gone in May.

You rock girl.  Keep up the great job.
