I have been organizing this trip the last 4 years.  Year one had over 40 people in attendance.  Each year the attandence changes and we meet some great folks.   It has waned of course over the years but these things happen.

My question is this.....  Is this board Interested in doing this kind of thing like years past?

And Any suggestions for locations for future trips?

I so enjoy organizing this and camping is even more fun when we go.   So I VOTE YES, but that is just me.  So let me know what you think.

PS I know this event gets planed 6 months in advance but that is the only way to get camping spots for everyone.   So Please let me know.  Whether you come or not what is your Opinion?

Special message for the old time lurkers..... I would like to make this year a reunion of sorts.  What do you think ?

Yes!!!  But not in it's current location!  I had enough of those damn squirrels to last me a lifetime!

OK...seriously....besides the squirrels.....I just found that Silverwood is not my cup of tea.  It was just too hot....and the sites were too far away from the water.  I love camping, but prefer to be right on the water or in a cooler place.  And.....since Nate is now in football and can't come with, I can't leave for the weekend and be in a place that doesn't get cell phone signal.  I need to be able to keep in touch.

I hear ya.   We looked into other locations  (see reply to Steph below).  We even went out to Calico Ghost Town.   Any suggestions would be awesome and I will check them out.  This year  Serrano Campground at Big Bear is on the lake and Booked a year in advance so Silverwood won by default again.   FYI the squirrels are our close personal friends now.  The dont bother us anymore.  LOL

I hardly ever post here anymore.  I saw the "old time" question so thought I would put my .02 in.

I haven't been to the park you guys usually camp at, but I agree with what Kirsten said regarding being close to water and the cell phone usage (or lack thereof).

A huge thank you to you for organizing this year after year.  I am sure it takes a lot of work and I am glad that you enjoy doing it.  I miss the "olden" days a lot.  But I don't think we are ever going to be able to recreate that.  It was too special!

Have a great week at work!!!

The distance is too far away for me.

Yes, I know.  Hoping we can meet face to face someday.   How about you any location ideas?

probably nothing you all would be interested in, I love close to Yosemite and the mountains and other mountain/lake campsites.

OK, so here is my 2 cents and I know it's not worth much and I shouldn't say anything, but what the heck...I'll interject.  LOL

Mike and I have been up there to visit you guys the one time for the one day.  Now, while the company is just the bomb...love you guys so much....we really don't like Silverwood.  I'm sorry honey, but it's just not a place we liked.  Too far from water and activities.  No cell phone connection. Yes, the company makes up for the location, but the location was just not someplace I want to spend alot of time. And yes, Mike likes up there to take a Kayak and go to their water area where that is allowed, but it's too far to get to the water without loading up the car back and forth and then it is just too crowded.

Obviously a beach campground would be wonderful but I know how difficult they are to come by. So, in lieu of that, I would even prefer a KOA campground somwhere, that has so many more options.  For instance, you can bring a tent, you can bring an RV or you can rent Kozy Kabins that almost all KOA's have.  Additionally almost all KOA's have a pool. Cell phone connections are generally not a problem and most KOA's also have internet connection and probably WiFi nowadays. They have organized activities such as movie nights and they are generally smaller which makes for a more cozy camping atmosphere. I suggest this because I organized an event a number of years ago (like 10) at a KOA campground and we had close to 100 people show up with tents, RV's and renting cabins.  We were there (it was on the East Coast in FL) for 4 days and it was the most fantastic time.  I have been to alot of KOA's and they are just really nice.  Very clean bathrooms and showers.  Convenience stores, dumping stations, etc.

So that is my 2 cents worth.  You asked for opinions and that is mine.  Not such a great one, but mine nonetheless.  I love you. Miss you.  Need to see you soon.

Hugs,
Steph
