Good Morning Cali! What's your excercise routine?
Hi Mayra,
I'm probably not the person best to answer this because I have been bad. Stopped exercising, started eating wrong, the whole nine yards of weight gain after WLS. In any event, when I was exercising, to be honest with you, all I did was walk. I started out slowly with short distances and then built up my speed and length. I was up to about 5 to 6 miles a day at a nice, brisk pace. It's all I did and I lost alot of weight. Over 250 pounds. I would just strap on the Ipod and off I would go. Being outside was the best for me. But if there was rain, I would just get on the treadmill instead. Didn't enjoy that as much, but it did the trick. I also did this every day of the week. I think consistency was very important.
So that is what I did. I'm sure others have much more intense routines of cardio and resistance training, but I'm not a very disiplinced person so walking just worked for me. Good luck with whatever you do. But do something. I can attest to how important it is. But also make sure it is something that does not become a chore to you. Do something you actually might enjoy.

I exercise 4-5 times a week. I used to do the whole 1 1/2 thing at the gym and realized it made not difference in my weight loss. In fact, it would take a lot of time doing the whole routine so now I just do 60 minutes (interval running, stairmaster, step aerobic, etc).
Some days I do 60 minutes of pure cardio and there are other days that I do 45 minutes of cardio and a few weights.

I'm just hoping that if I ask and write about exercising, i'll get my booty to do something. I've been such a bad WLS patient and I need to get started on something quick. I have no muscle mass! Thanks for all the responses. I promise to my self that by the end of this week I will have walked at least 2 miles. It's a little I know, but it's a start. I just hate exercising alone! I work nights so it's hard to find a gym-buddy during the day.

I do Zumba Monday and Wednesday nights, sometimes Saturday mornings.
I swim a mile (72 laps) Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and Friday night after work (4 laps each alternating freestyle with resistance gloves, breast stroke and kicking on the first 3 sets of 12 laps, and on the second 3 sets I throw in freestyle sprints on the 2nd and 4th of the breastroke laps - on the 1st and 3d breastroke laps I try to regulate my breathing, stretch and glide as much as possible, calm my heart rate and try not to drown.
Zumba will soon be replaced by kickboxing and bellydancing classes as soon as this 12 week series ends.
I walk too during my commute, at lunch and always park at the furthest parking space from the door, and when Im not carrying a bunch of junk... run up any stairs I come across.
Sex is good exercise too.. does that count? ;)
The rest of the time I REST! lol... Love & Hugs!
