that's something you will have to experiment with. I use regular foods except ones with sugar, I use the splenda ones. My reasoning is that I am eating smaller portions and most of the fat free items have more sugars than the regular ones, they have to compensate for the taste somehow and it appears that by adding sugars it tastes better.
I also need certain amount of fats in my diet as I am vit d def. and need the fats for the Vits ADEand K to get into my system.
Didn't mean to go on and on, but see if you body tolerates the fat free or the regular one best.

Juanita,
My 3 week post op liquid diet consisted of liquids. Carnitation instant breakfast (SF), jello, pudding, cream of chicken soup diluted. As for cottage cheese I eat the knudsen with the fruit additives. I am now 7 mos post op. I am one of the very lucky people with no problems what so ever with any food including sugar. Not that I am gorging on sugar but I do have some. I believe the Knudsen I use is low fat. You may also want to try some yougart. If you are already eating eggs (probably soft boiled or scrambled) you just need to try things little by little if allowed by your doctor to see how things work for you.
Hope you can get more answers from other people. You can always call the NUT.

Hi Juanita,
Cottage cheese is a great thing to have. I choose the low fat because it usually has very low or no sugar and it tastes better. Plus our bodies do need some fat so low fat is usually fine. Yogurt, the greek kind that has no sugar is also a wonderful thing to add early on. I ate a lot the greek plain yogurt. You can get this at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, but I noticed even Safeway started carrying this. Be careful though because even the plain yogurt that isn't Greek can sometimes have lots of sugar.
Good luck venturing out to new foods.

I have the low fat cottage cheese every morning for breakfast. When my pouch isn't feeling well I eat it too. I eat the low fat because like the others have said we do need some fat in our diets. I also agree to take it easy adding new things. I still have problems with that and I had my surgery last September. I eat a lot of refried beans and cheese, Dennison's low fat turkey chilie, regular pinto beans, kidney beans, and low fat string cheese. I don't think you are ready for those yet. Good Luck.
