5 days post-op
today is day 5 post op and I'm in a little pain the area around my bellybutton is really swollen and I feel a pulling sensation there I spoke with the head nurse and she suggested I come in tomorrow and see the doctor. Other then that I'm doing fine the surgery went great according to the doctors and I was in the hospital from Friday until Monday and they sent me home without the drain and let me tell you I was excited about that. I'm just hoping that's not the reason why I have the swelling.. Also I've been on my pureed diet liquids was the first 2 days the purees aren't too bad at least not yet lol. I do have 1 big concern and that's getting in all my proteins and liquids any suggestions? I also find that I'm always so tired but when i am awake I'd much rather be walking because it makes the pain go away lol..
Glad to hear your surgery went well, and that you are home. In regards to getting in your liquids and protein. Your not going to get in what they want in the beginning. Just do what you can and keep sipping. That is really all you can do. Your going to be tired for a while. You just had major surgery, and it is to be expected, plus your also not eating really anything. I felt exhausted for about 3 months. While I was off from work, I pretty much napped every day. Just take it one day at a time, and don't over do anything. It gets better and it is so worth it in the end. Keep us posted on how things are going.

Congratulations on your surgery and welcome to the loser's bench. Give yourself a little time to recoup. It will take some time to feel like yourself again. Try to add some extra protein in where you can (like adding powdered milk to soups). I was never able to get all they wanted me to get in either, at first but it will come.
Way to go, it's all good from here!

Congratulations and welcome home!
Just take in what you can and be mostly concerned that you don't become dehydrated. Jellos made with some Protein shots can help your protein intake...bu****er and clear fruit juices will help the most. Keep some clear liquid by your bed. I remember being so thirsty at night, but too uncomfortable to get up and get a drink...I learned within a few days to keep a water bottle nearby at all times.
Speedy Recovery!

Glad to hear you are doing well. I am a little over 2 weeks out, and I still cannot get all the protein and fluid. Just worry about fluid and vitamins first and protein will follow. I am slowly adding the soft purees over the next two weeks. I am sick of the sweet proteins and am looking forward to my beneprotein arriving in the mail to add to soup and other fluid. It is flavorless, textureless and colorless which will really help me. The swelling will go down, but you may feel like you have hardspots unde the incisions, my surgeon said it is the scar tissue forming, and rubbing it helps, it will hurt a little, but you will not hurt the stiches, just wait until the scabs have fallen off befor rubbling too much if you decide to try this. I still have very tiny bruises, but the worse bruise I have is from the shot of heperin they gave me in the stomach before surgery. Keep walking it helps alot.
Warm wishes!
