Looking for Support Groups in Sacramento area

Hello everyone ~

I had surgery in June 2009 - I am looking for information on support groups in the Sacramento area. Does anyone know of any? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I have done all the searching on search engines and other boards - have only found information on the Sutter meeting and the Kaiser Elk Grove meeting every Monday night.

Hi...I think there is a meeting in Rancho but don't know the details.  Also there is a group up in Roseville..but again, don't know the details. The MedCenter on Stockton Blvd use to have a meeting but it was for post-op only...not sure if they are still meeting but you could call the Admin office and check it out.
I do attend the Elk Grove group...and of course, I'm bias ;-)  but it is a fun group, always welcoming new people, no matter where they are on their journey.  We are not strickly Kaiser even tho we meet at the Big Horn Kaiser building.  We have, at last count, 4 people that I know of, from Dr Waldrop's practice.  A couple of gals from Dr Machado have also attended a few times.

Also, ExecSue (?), from Ione (she posts here on this forum) is starting up a new group over in Ione...would be fun to drive over and help her get started...I'm just waiting to see her post details of meeting time and place.

I whole heartedly encourage you to give Elk Grove a try...but if not, I wish you well in your search.  Support is so important to our success ^_^

I have been attending the Elk Grove Support group for the past month.  However, I am seeking other groups too.

Well, now you have caught me red faced and totally embarrassed!!  I am going to have to start paying closer attention!!  Were you there last Monday??  If so, where were you sitting???  Hopefully, BEHIND me?   You can bet I'll be looking for you next week

No reason to be embarrassed! I probably look different in person than my avatar anyway - when I come to group I am not holding my puppy! =) I was sitting next to I believe her name is Meghan - I had my back to the doors. We were talking back and forth at the end about how difficult shopping can be at the normal stores.

Hey JC   hope to see you tonight...and I sincerely mean 'see'!  I know who Megan is...she's also from this Board ^_^  Watch out Elk Grove...OH is taking over!  JK...Daryl and April do a great job moderating the group ;-)

Sure glad JC was on the computer this weekend..I was crocheting all weekend and never did get on LOL  Tonight's meeting is at 7pm and runs til usually no later than 8:30..but you can always leave early if you need to.  If I'm by myself, I usually boogy out around 8.  Hope you can make it tonight...and be sure to introduce yourself!  I'll be paying attention for sure this week ;-)

SF Laporoscopy has a support group that meets monthly at the Red Lion Inn on Saturday morning.  It is open to all.
