Greetings all,

Well I cant believe it has been one year ago today that I was a nervous but a very happy basket case being wheeled into surgery to start the journey towards my new life. I fought for so many years to have this surgery done and finally it was here. I just wanted to share what my journey has done for me in the past year and some of the accomplishments I have had in just one short year.........It has been an E Ticket ride for me.

1. One Hundred Seventy Nine pounds lost so far
2. Off every medication that I was on and only taking vitamins now
3. Down from a tight 5X shirt to a loose 2X shirt
4. Ability to walk and move more than 1/2 a block
5. No more seatbelt extenders needed
6. Able to fit into a booth comfortably at a resturant
7. Able to buy clothes from Wal-Mart or any store off the rack
8. BMI went from 61.1 down to 38
9. Went from Super Morbidly Obese to just Obese

This surgery has just changed my life forever. I am working out at the gym 3 days a week (well when work allows ir LOL) and I dont have to deal with the discrimination that we all have had to deal with especially for employment. I am not going to say that I have not had any issues but if I had to do it all over agai I absolutely would have to. I may have to have a revision one day and am I willing to go through this again.....You betcha.

I just want to thank everyone here for all the great support that was given to me over the past year. And I want to especially thank my wife for all the support and torture that she endured since I had the surgery. If it wasnt for her, I would not have made it this far.

My wife just completed her classes for the surgery on Monday and will be taking this journey very shortly and I will stand by her as she did for me......

Have a great day everyone............Rick

Its been fun so far. Susan is still on the teeter totter as it were but I am sure she will go through with it. Let me know when you get your membership to the gym. I still need a workout partner

Hi Rick,

What a great list of accomplishments. You've done great work taking full advantage of this tool we've all earned. What a complete E ticket ride. I hope to list similar goals on May 27th this year.

Congrats!

Congratulations Rick!  I want to thank you for the support you give all of us on this board!  I also want to thank you for this post.  It is really an inspiration to all of us.  You have done so well and have much to be proud of.

I would like to wish your wife well on her surgery too.  It means so much when our spouses and family are supportive.

Thanks for the encouragement....I could not have done it without all the support and encouragement that we all get here. I still have a long way to go but together, we all can do it.

Congrat's Rick.  What an awsome year of accomplishments.  I know you must be so very elated to have accomplished so many things in just 1 year.  Many congrats to you wife on the support and on her upcoming surgery.  I know that this can be tough on spouses.  My husband does not worry as much anymore, but would still like to see me eat 2000 calories a day - LOL (not to be vindicative or anything, but because as WLS pts. we can only eat so much).

Again congrat's on your E - Ticket ride.

Hi Annette,

Yeah I really owe her BIG for the hassles and heartache that I put her through. There were some real scary times especially when I got hospitalized again in May because of the intestinal blockage. She sure was a trooper. But I will be just as supportive to her as she was and is with me. Bad thing is I am a nurse so I will probably be worse on her with the medical side
