Looking for Northern CA support
Hi everyone
I am Tamra from Concord, CA; Looking for some local LAPBAND support groups, or even new friends, to help me along the way.
I was banded 1/20/2010, and have lost alittle under 10 lbs since. I was required to loose 35 lbs before the band by my insurance /Surgeon @ Kaiser, so in total I am down about 45 since July 2009.
Look forward to meeting you all ! <3
Hi Tamra,
Congratulations on having your lap band done. Keep an eye out on this board, there is a group of us that get together and have lunch once a month. You are more then welcome to come. It would be great to meet you. I believe our next lunch is going to be Feb. 20th. Usually NewBarb2 posts about the lunch. I hope you can come.

Hi Tamra,
I live in Concord too!!! Congratulations on your recent banding. There is a support group that meets each 2nd Sat of the month at John Muir Concord from 10am to 12pm in the conference room, you don't need to have had your surgery there (I didn't) and it's a well run and informative support group. There are all types of "losers" who have had all types if surgeries and these folks couldn't be nicer.
As Eileen said in her previous post, we have a Nor Cal luncheon each month, plus a few get togethers during the year and a nicer group of people you couldn't find. We are all about friendship and support for each other oh and having fun too. We also do a clothing exchange each month as well.
I will be posting our next luncheon (Feb 20th at noon) in the next day or two as I am trying to secure a new luncheon place as Mimi's was getting too small. I am thinkiing one of the Butter Cup Kitchens, CoCo's or Back Forty as they all have menu's that are varied. I am leaning toward Butter Cup or CoCo's cuz they have the most versatile menu's that would help newbies too, Let me know your thought's gang!!!
I look forward to meeting you!!

Hi Barb,
You'll all like Tamra, she's a doll.
I didn't realize that anyone could attend the John Muir support group. Good to know. I'm also happy to read that anyone can go to Alba Bates as well.
I won't be able to attend the February luncheon because my surgery is on the 17th. But I'll definitely be there the following month. I had such a great time meeting everyone last month and immediately felt welcomed into the group.

Now MsBella...don't you go making excuses to miss the luncheon! You don't have to eat, ya know! I attended my support group meeting 4 days post op! I know, everyone is different but you might just find yourself surprized how great you feel and actually feel like getting out ^_^ I just made sure someone else drove the car LOL
We have such a fun time at the get-together...and meeting new people is more than half the fun! I will miss you but will be thinking of you the whole time!
Hugs

Nancy, you are terrific! Thanks for following up with me. I just found out last night that my son is coming home from NY for the weekend, so who knows maybe since I have someone to drive, I can actually come!
I think I'll put my name on the list for two people and see how it goes.
