I Hate it!

I'm almost two weeks out and I'm feeling great! But, what I hate is when you get a phone call and you think someone is checking up on your well being and they proceed to tell you about other people they new, that  had RNY and failed or bad health etc...and then wish you well, is this crazy or what?
What do you do with people like this?   Thanks for listening!

Hi Jem, congrats on your surgery. When people start all the negative talk about how they know people that have had RNY and had bad experiences or failed, I just look at them and say "not everyone is the same and their expereinces are different. My experience will be diferent than anyone elses and (sarcastically) thank you for your 'concern' ".  Good luck hun.xoxoxo

Thank you for your support! It was so unexpected, but the next time I will be on my toes with and take your advice.

Not everyone fails... we have the power within ourselves to achieve our goals one day at a time. The surgery fixes the body... the brain powers it.

I've had to cut only two people out... I call it a little fat trimming... lol!

You'll notice people... co-workers will be all on board with you... then when you reach your goal or surpass i****ch out!

My best to you hun! That's why support is so important. It helps keep us emotionally strong.

You will find people will really be jealous too.  When I have people tell me about the ones they know that failed, I tell them I am fully aware that the weight can come back on.  That this surgery is not a magic bullet and it will be up to me to keep it off.  Some times you just have to ignore them. Some people are just very negative.

I haven't posted in a while but ..this is one of the main reasons! I hear where you're coming from, I'm in the 2nd month of my "6 month diet" for insurance purposes.  I finally stopped telling people I'm going to have this done because all those negative responses come about. Meh.. just keep on doing what you're doing! It'll all work out!!

Hi,
after reading your post it made me think of what I would say when I go back to work on Monday.  I think I will say "yes, that may be true but I plan to suceed"

This is a great post! I didn't even tell a lot of people, but the ones I did all felt obligated to tell me about people who gained all their weight back. I couldn't understand what the point of them sharing this information with me was. Were they warning me? Were they telling me not to have the surgery? Were they assuming I'd fail too? It was strange to say the least.

It confirmed my reason for not wanting to tell a lot of people.
