Pomerado Hospital in Poway Co-Pay??

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had their surgery at Pomerado Hospital. I have Health Net HMO and my surgery is covered but I have to pay 1000.00 a day for the first 3 days in the hospital. My question is did they want you to pay that before surgery or do they bill you? I wouldn't think you would have to pay 3000.00 when usually if everything goes well I would be out of the hospital the next day after surgery? Thanks in advance for your response.

I posted this question on another site too and a few people responded and said it depends on the hospital. I tried calling pomerado and all they could tell me was they would discuss that at my pre-op intake once I am scheduled for surgery. I know there has to be someone out there with a hmo that has gone thru this. I will keep searching and let you know what I can find out :)

Thanks. I ask my nutritionist tonight she said depends on the hospital, but she cant say for sure..

Hi Cynthia! :)

Not sure about how they do things for scheduled surgery, but I have a deductible of $3000 annually with my insurance and when I went to the ER there last week, the admissions broad straight up asked me for a check for $2,000 (my "estimated" costs for services that day)!!! I was appalled to say the least. I told her I didn't have the $$$ today and to just bill me. But I am not sure how it would work since they are talking to you about it at your pre-op appointment right before your date. They will probably ask you to pay at least half of the $3,000 but hopefully they will work with you. I would try to find out if you can beforehand though...because gawd forbid they won't let you have the surgery unless you pay first or something. That would suck!

BTW...I can't believe your date is soon approaching. Time went by pretty quickly, huh? :) How about this weather today? UGH.

I called Health Net today and they said it shouldn't be a problem to have the hospital bill me but I am going to make sure I have a credit card in hand just in case. I know I can't believe how time flies. Before I know it I will be on the loser's side. I turn 30 in May so I am so excited to have this done by then. We still need to get together and go for a walk or coffee :) The weather is crazy but since I work inside all day its kinda nice..lol How was your holidays? I should just message you but I already started typing on here..lol TTYL
