hi everyone,

I am 4 months out and hair is really falling out.  I have been told to get nioxin shampoo but I was hoping someone could tell me a good place to get it and is there a type that is better than another.  I searched it on the internet and there were tons.  Thanks

Hi Michelle
I was told Nioxin is found in beauty supply stores or salons.  I also heard Supercuts carries the brand name.  I went to Sally's beauty supply house here in Sacramento..bought a product called Nutri-ox which the sales gal told me they just got in the beginning of this month. She said she was getting positive feed back.  I don't know the price of Nioxin, but Nutri-ox is a 3-step program, shampoo, conditioner and leave-in hair treatment..cost was only 16.99 for a 30day supply (it's all liquid), Nice thing about Sally's, they give a 60day guarantee...if I don't like it or feel it isn't working, I can return the remaining and get my money back. Not a bad deal in my book ^_^

Hey Michelle

any beatuy supply should carry it.. better yet it you have a hairresser in the family get them to get it for you with their discount. Nice thing is you don't have to use much.. they also make a great conditioner called scalp therapy, leaves hair so shiny and silky.

Good luck.. I know you will do great!

I have been using Nioxin for about four years and LOVED it. My ultra fine hair was shiny, thick and full of body. Notice I said was. I'm about five months post-op and my hair has been falling out by huge handfulls for about a month now. The Nioxin hasn't prevented the hair loss, so I have switched to Nick Chavez thickening shampoo and conditioners, which helps plump up what hair I have left.  I'll return to the Nioxin in a couple of months, when the worst of the hair loss is over.  It speeds regrowth, but doesn't really prevent hair loss from surgery.

I buy my products at ULTA, a wonderful store that periodically runs discounts on Nioxin. Earlier this month I picked up about a years worth of Nioxin in a "buy two - get two free" sale.  More often they have "buy two - get one free".

Check Ulta.com for store locations, unfortunately they don't mail Nioxin products from their website.

I just found a GREAT deal on Nioxin shampoo at JC Penneys salon of all places!  They had the HUGE bottle of shampoo and conditioner bundled together in a box for a special price of $39.99.  Now that is really expensive to me for shampoo, but if you price Nioxin, that is a GREAT price.  (considering I use coupons and sales to get tons of FREE shampoo.  LOL) It is the largest size bottles, too.  HUGE.  It should last me at least 6 months or more!  I hope it helps, because my hair is thin to begin with, and I cannot afford to lose any!  I would phone your local JC Penney salon and see if they carry this deal.  This was two weeks ago, so hopefully they will have some left for you.
