Hi  everyone!!
WEll--- it's finally soooo close----- and I really know I have read and researched and asked questions, and made lists---- shopped a little---gotten some protein samples..... read here thankfully for this site and all of you---and NOW---here we go!!!  So---I can really only shop one more day----due to work issues---and then I will be driving to CLovis for my surgery...and  What should I have RIGHT AWAY for the hotel room (staying there a couple days...) ANd what should I have once I get home---so I don't have to go right to the store????
ANY and all Ideas!!  ( yes I have chapsick
I am happy and nervous and all that you all remember being...... THOSE darn butterflies are making me crzy----- one of my biggest concerns is having to travel 3 hours away from my DH ( he is a little disabled---it would be harder on me if he was there--then I'd worry about him)
I have never gone to Trader Joe's and will be going there on Wednesday----and the Vitamin SHoppe....so I'll appreciate all advice and shopping tips!
Thank you--------- Yikes!! THere are those butterflies again!

EARPLUGS!!!!!

I cannot tell you how these saved me from my obnoxious roomate, well I should say her huge family that came in and were SO inconsiderate.... but when you put them in, just tell the nurse, so they don't think you can hear them, lol ;)

Trader Joe's Fage Greek yogurt 0% fat. SF syrups to flavor it!! It has twice the protein as most yogurt!! I hope you aren't planning on driving too soon after your surgery. It is NOT advisible and very dangerous(like 2 weeks)!

Hi Lori,
First of all..how are you getting to your hotel???  Did you make arrangements already, cab??, shuttle???  Do you have someone to call incase of emergency??
If you can find a "mouth moisurizer" it will make your first 24 hrs easier..you just rub the stuff in your mouth..its like a minty glycerine.
I suggest some JuicyJuice boxes of their 100% juices.  They are small and disposeable.  Commercially prepared cups of SugarFree Jellos.  If you have a kitchenette with a fridge/freezer..some SUGAR FREE popsicles.  Make sure you take a good protien drink that you like...no sense in trying new ones right after surgery and not likeing them.  Adkins has a good couple of flavors.  A shaker or mini blender to prepare your drinks if you are going to mix them yourself.  Some good books and fluffy slippers and Tylenol Elixer if your doc approves.
Wishing you the best...

Oh Thank you !!
I have an amazing friend that is going with me!!!  Taking HER vacation time accrued to take care of ME!!! I am very very lucky!! Soo--she will drive...and then stay in CLovis...and then drive me home.  My god-daughters both live in Clovis---so I do have someone close by as well. ( and one is a nurse!!) They are very busy girls with toddlers----so I am trying not to ask them for too much.........except to BRING those frozen popsicles!!!
Thank you for the tips on the premade jello too!!
We do have a micro-wave and fridge.... I love and have atkins.... and I got a cool blender/shaker with a little shaker in it......
I don't know what a mouth moisturizer is???? IS that the little spongey thing they give at the hospital????
I guess I am on the right track------ adding to my shopping list.........
I don't have the binder yet----------it's in the mail..... and I got your pm about how to work it.........
thank you...........and my best to you..........

HI Lori...you can find the mouth moisturiser in the dental section of a store..it is formulated for Dry Mouth.  There will probably be several brands. It will save you your sanity and keep you from watching the clock tick by and feeling thirsty enough to threaten a nurse for water..lol

Lori-
Congrats on your surgery and happy thoughts for a speedy problem free recovery.  I was only allowed clears for the first week and found that either boullion or strained soups (ie chicken noodle or veg beef) tasted better than canned broth.  I also used New Whey protien bullets (42g of protien) diluted in water and sipped on it most of the day.  I also found that I did not like the taste of the hospital water and had my parents bring me bottled water.  The hospital gave me swabs for the dry mouth and once I could drink sipping the water was even better.  Otherwise sounds like you are ready.   Good Luck   Melissa

I am but a caterpillar waiting to become a butterfly.
