REPOST: Tips for all LA Event Attendees!!!

I've attended 4 OH Events and as many of you who have attended OH Events may know, one of the BEST parts of the events is meeting other OH Members...but with that said here are a few tips or reminders to make the mixing and mingling a little easier for all you having fun this weekend.

1. On your name tag include the name you are known by on the Message Board. That's easy for me because my name is Sarah...but I make sure I put Sarah Margaret or Sarahlicious. This is also helpful since some people don't have a) their pictures 2) recent pictures when posting. I've gone to Events and talked to people all weekend thinking I just met someone new only to go back to boards and find out OMG that was them!!!

2. If you recognize someone and it's someone you talk to all the time on the MB, etc...be the first one to SAY...hey!!! It's gonna be a big crowd...refer back to #1...maybe they don't realize who you are?...don't be upset.

3. ATTEND the Friday night Halloween party...even if you don't dress up!!! You can laugh at all who do!!! Look this is the first time you are going to be among friends...those friends who understand what it's like to battle a life of obesity and won't judge you....so get on the dance floor and shake your groove thing!!! In Lexington, it wasn't my first costume party, heck I had planned many Halloween dances in college...but that was the first one that I was excited about...excited about my costume and I danced...I danced and I danced some more...it was such a great feeling. I even danced to Baby Got Back...because dang it I still had it!!!

4. Of course attend all the sessions...in Lexington and Irvine they had choices for the time slots and had some really nice "other" ones like the exercise ball, and massage therapy!!! So definately remember that your weight loss journey is going to involve making a healthier YOU...ALL of you! And all you GRADS don't forget about our break out session on Saturday morning...seats are limited so e-mail [email protected] and let her know you are coming!

5. No judging/no worrying-everyone there will be at different stages of their journey pre-op, new post-ops, long term post-ops, different surgery types, etc. And we all know every surgeon has different protocols...so with that said....there is typically an environment of none judgement. We are all adults and can make our own decisions...so if you see someone drinking with lunch. Or having a muffin for breakfast. And on the flip side don't worry about just being yourself and enjoying your regular lifestyle. If that means Starbucks, Diet Coke, and eating the bread that comes with dinner..the dinner that you don't want to split...then so be it!!!

*fyi we have already located the nearest Starbucks, Pinkberry, and In & Out!!!

Also...bring your before and after pictures!!! I know many might only have them online...so if you can print them out so you can share with others!!!

Anyone else have suggestions they would like to share.....

See you at the Halloween party!
Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
