Hey goils, do any of you belong to Curves?  I've been a lazy bones about my Step Aerobicsexercise, and the Curves by my new place has better hours than quite a few I've checked into...so, let me know what you think of them.  Most people I talk to really like them, so thought I'd check on here...thanks guys!  Ok, back to my fav thing to do.... Surf The Web xo  Kim

I belonged to Curves pre baby and pre WLS.  I was a member for over two years.  It was okay.  It's a nice, easy workout however for me it became so routine that I don't think it was doing much, but it was better than nothing.  LOL!  My mom still belongs to Curves and goes about 3 days a week but also does run/walks three days a week and bootcamp 1 day a week.
So, I guess what I am trying to say is that it is a good workout for strength training but not so great for cardio in my opinion.

Bottom line, it's better than nothing.

I used to work at Curves...so I can give you the low down:

The Good:
1. You can make the workout as hard as you want by giving it your all.
2. There is an advanced workout that you can ask your instructor about and they will teach it to you.
3. You'll make new friends
4. You can talk to your friends to make the workout go by quickly
5. It's only 30 min
6. It's a great starter workout for someone who hasn't exercised on a regular basis.

The Bad:
1. If you're lazy, you wont get anything out of it.
2. If you hate to be social, you can workout on your own but the people who DO socialize will get in your way.
3. 30 minutes is a good workout- 60 minutes is better
4. People are gonna talk to you whether you want them to or not.
5. Sometimes the trainers can be a little...hyper (like a poodle).

Hello!!

I did Curves for a while last year and within the first month I got bored with it. I still went, but the routine is very repetitive!! I eventually left Curves and joined 24 Hour Fitness! Now, this is a place I have found to be very useful and fun. I thought I was going to be intimidated by all the 'skinny' people in there, but then you realize... we're all there to do the same thing. Of course there's always going to be those who look at the gym as a social gathering and meat market, but you just have to remember... everyone will all say one thing once they see you on the machines working out... "at least she's in here doing something about it!"

I hope I don't steer you away from Curves, it's a quick 30 minute work out that targets all your muscle groups.

Have a good night!!!

It is a great place to get back into working out.  Especially because it is such a comfortable environment.  I worked out at Curves for 4 months prior to my RNY and a year after.  I finally had to add more to my routine so I joined LA Fitness.  But I sure LOVED Curves.  It got me back into feeling comfortable in a gym environment.

Best of luck to you!!!
