I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, but WOO HOO for Lexie!!! How very exciting for both of you!!!
If you have any tips on how she is doing it, let me know because my 16 year old wants to lose some weight and just started a "diet".

Thanks Becky!

Lexie drinks a protein shake each morning, except on weekends, she has food for breakfast. The protein powder is only available through the doctor. It's called Cornerstone and it's by Medical Nutrition Center. It has a TON of vitamins and stuff in it. If I hadn't left my magnifying glass at work, I'd share. Twice a day she takes a pill the nutritionist gave her, made by the same comany and it's called Metassist. The protein is costly but well worth it obviously. It is $68 a can that last a couple of months since we skip weekends.

Lexie's program is...

2 bread servings a day (90 Calories a serving)

3 servings of fresh fruit

unlimited vegetables

7 ounces of lean protein, but this time she added a couple of more ounces.

Only non fat or low fat cheese

3 servings of fat. Lexie uses low fat Ranch on her salad and that's the only "fat" she eats.

She is not to have candy, soda or fast food.

She has to drink at least 32 ounces of water or more. She can use powered drink mixes but only if they have splenda.

And... she is to exercise, exercise, exercise. I admit we slacked off last month but she did awesome anyway.

She weighed 180 at the beginning and now is at 158. She is allowed to have a couple of treats like Starbucks a month and she told her that if she really wanted to have a piece of cake to have it. Lexie is already learning that a little bit satisfies her though.

LoL.. Her main goal is to weigh less than me! She will in no time and I can't be any more proud of her than I am right now.

Hey Lauren,

I wanted to let you know that your post about Lexie really inspired me.  I have started doing research and am thinking about starting a group for overweight adolescent girls.

It seems that they need more support, education and self-esteem building to have a chance at healthy and lasting change.  The goal is to help girls feel great, be healthy and avoid the progression to adult obesity.  This is in the VERY early stages, but I wanted to let you and Lexie know that you started something just by sharing your story
