I'm having my first consult with Dr. Ali and Dr. Fuller from UCD in Sac on Oct 31st. I'm very excited about this appointment. I've already lost the 10% body weight that is required. EKG and chest x-rays are done. I also may get my psych evaluation that day too. This appointment I'm told is 4.5hrs long. No big deal. I know that this surgery will change my life for the better in the long run, so the time is very much worth it.  I'm trying to get things done asap to get a date before the end of the year.

Question to people who have had surgery at UCD within the last year. I would like to know if they have a list of basic tests for patients? I know that some patients will have certain tests that others won't. Also I would like to know your experience with your surgeon, bedside manner, caring, easy to get along with, etc.

Thank you for stopping in and reading OH family.

2 of my friends that do not know each other went to Dr. Ali.  Both of them raved about him, his staff and the hospital.  They both said that he is wonderful, sensitive, listens and hears you, is genuine, kind and funny.  I am trying to get a referral to him, too.

Hi, I had my surgery at UCSF, but  my friend NIKKI (her name if FAVORED on OH....) had her surgery with Dr. Ali.

I would say write to her....she is very open and friendly and would answer any question that she could.

She really  loved UCD and Dr. Ali.

Good Luck.

EKG
Mammogram
Blood Work
stool sample - fun fun fun - had to do it twice.

I had Dr Fuller - he's a cutie but I only talked with him one time. The next time I saw him I was in the OR.
Staff is great. You will work with NPs. Most appointments will be group appointments. They will take you downstairs see videos, talk to the group and answer questions as a group. Most appointment go like that even my 6 month post op appointment. Kind of a production line. But I have not had one complication so they know what they are doing.

They were ready to go with a surgery date within a two month period but my insurance made me do a six month diet.

The hospital experience was great. I was in the new wing - very clean.

Thank you for taking the time to give me some info and you feelings on this matter. I've stayed in the hospital before. Feb. 2007 I had a total thyroidectomy. The hospital staff are very nice and take good care of their patients.
