OT: Update on my ankle...
Saw the doc a little bit ago and it looks like I won't be needing surgery after all. One of the breaks is filled in and the other break is slowly filling in so they are going to get me a bone stimulator to help. It's similar to a TENS unit for muscles, but this helps stimulate bone growth. I still have to wear the cam walker and not do full weight bearing, but at least I don't need surgery and won't have to be back in the wheelchair. Woooohooooooo!!!

Kat, I am really happy for you that you aren't going to do surgery after so long. But I have a question...Why didn't the repair it with surgery in the first place? Wouldn't it have healed faster? Not that I am an expert on this but after 9 broken bones ( not all at the same time) The ones I have had the least amount of trouble with have been repaired surgically, at the time of the injury. Anyway, I am glad you are on the mend I know it hasn't been easy on you.

Hi Joy, the reason they didn't do surgery on my ankle when I first broke it is that, even tho I was walking on it (I thought I had just really badly sprained it), the bones didn't shift their position, so they decided to see if they would knit together. The bones are doing well and haven't shifted at all, so no surgery is needed. =)
