Ok got a quick question - I know that as we lose this weight we have less insulation thus getting colder easier - but lately I am cold all the time and when it is cold outside I am really cold - this is all such a concept it is hard to get my head around it.  My question is - I have gone through this periodically since surgery and now it is hear again - could this mean I am losing fate or something?  Just wondering - I mean the way it comes and goes is spells - like I go through the cold thing then it gets normal for a while then through another cold thing....does it mean anything?  Mind you I am NOT complaining at all since I love the fact that I don't sweat all the time like before...

I don't have an answer, look forward to someone having insight, but I am right there with you! And it is a hard concept to get your head around after being a sweat monster for so long!! lol
Now my hands and feet get and stay cold if it is cold, and my hubby hates it because I get him with them!!! hee hee   I can't go anywhere without a jacket, just in case, and that is WIERD!!!!

Isn't this new life the best?!!!!     Hey, have you heard anything from Monique?? I think of her often and wonder how she is!

have a great day sweetie! I am off to church soon!

I have been wondering the same thing.  I was freezing all day yesterday!  My daughter kept asking "what's wrong with you mom?"  I was always hot and sweating.  Now it doesn't take much to make me cold.  I may actually even be able to wear a sweater blouse for the first time in about 20 years this winter.

Jean,  I know exactly what your talking about.  I am always sooooo cold!!!  In the summer I think people thought I was wired...I would be standing there waiting for the Metro wearing a sweater and standing in the sun!!  I was in Reno last week and I was in heaven...I would turn the room up to 80, my husband would die if he was there, he always wants the sliding glass door open and the fan on high and I freeze!!!

But, if I had to choose from being hot and fat or cold and thin...I would take the cold any day!!!!

I have no answers either....you you ice princess....hehehehhehe only kidding about the ice part! ROTFL

I am telling you Jean...I think we all suffer from being cold...and yes we are cold. I think too that we are so much more aware of our bodies now....and when we were FAT all we focused on was the heat factor and not wanting to sweat because everyone knew we sweated because we were FAT....(myth by the way I think).

When I moved here to the desert, I was mortified that I sweated because I had never really sweated in the bay area.Well I realized...hey everyone sweats in the desert even if you are a stick!

So that is my story and I am stickin to it gf Kisses

I have a friend that I met here on OH who was always cold when we hung out together, and I always called him crazy. I was NEVER cold! He told me, "Just wait til you're post-op - you'll be cold all the time!" I still said he was crazy. Yesterday I was sitting in briefing, SHIVERING, and I texted him ... "You know how you warned me that I'd be cold all the time?" "Yeah." "Okay, I believe you." LOL! I own ONE long-sleeved shirt that I just purchased this past week and I am trying to figure out how I am going to keep from turning into an ice cube this winter because I'm trying not to spend too much money on clothes ... And I am the only person I know who doesn't own a jacket ... Nor do I wish to buy one, because they're expensive and honestly? I'd rather be cold than tolerate the bulk of a jacket around me. I gotta check out the clothing exchanges and whatnot before I die of frostbite.

Jean,

I have no answers for you but want you to know I am the same way.  I have been freezing and it is so new to me.  Hopefully, as I get skinnier I can layer up.  LOL!

I had to get out of bed last night and put on a pair of socks because I was shivering.

Ok.. this is what was said at a support group I went to over a year ago...it was the topic of being cold and it was about 110 degrees outside..lol  The advisor said that, with the displacement of the hormones from the dissection of the stomach, it affects the Hypothalmus which regulates hormones.  The Hypothalmus is one of the glands that can control our body temperature...ergo...we lose that ability to have our body naturaly "heat up", with the loss of tummy hormones.  I myself, like another poster have never even owned a coat, living in So Cal for so many years (an original East coaster) and when I went to Alaska, I bought one, just to put it away and grow moths for the last 7 yrs..lol  I'd like to wear a coat or nice sweater soon.lol
This would be a neat subject to research.  I haven't had the WLS yet..so it'll be interesting to be chilly ALL the time...even during "the flashes"..lol

Hey Kim
Thanks for the input - makes sense to me.  And thanks to all the rest of you for your comments - at least I know I am not alone.....

Hi Diane - I will be thinking of you this week for sure - Just remember I am thinking of you often and if you get to bored stuck up in that room - give me a call.....and I love ya too.

Ok so to the rest of you - stay warm.  I did buy a blanket this afternoon and LInens and things to put on the bed.  I haven't had a blanket on my bed in so long - just the comforter and the sheet - well, rather than layering on the thin throws I have I broke down and bought a real blanket....lol....

Ok time to go catch up on the rest of my emails from the weekend since I have been gone so much....

Love ya'll

Only time I get warm is when I have a hot flash.  I used to love being in cold weather, heck when we lived in Lake Arrowhead it would be snowing outside and I would have a window cracked because it was warm for me.  Not any more, holy cow, I am freezing right now.  We went wine tasting yesterday, and I brought along a sweater, just in case.  I wore the damn thing all day long.  I should have brought my jacket because by the time we were in Chino Hills for my great nephews T-ball game, I was literally shivering.  I was praying for a hot flash, but of course they never come when you want them too.  So of course, all this chatter has nothing to do with why we do this, it's just to say HI JEAN!!!!

Love U, Diane
