Hi Cat! I have Blue Shield PPO, so if you have the same you will need a physical from your pcp, a psych. evaluation, which I obtained from Dr. Morgan (self pay of $150. You should call and make the appointment right away), nutrition evaluation (from one of the places on Dr Coirin's list) and then after you finish your requirements they will send for approval for your insurance but in the mean time you will have to attend a 4 hour nutrition class that Dr. Coirin's office schedules you for. I had my consultation Friday, October 3rd and had all of the appointments done by the next Friday. Be persistant and call often. Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the info.  I, too, have Blue Shield PPO.  I was just curious if the physical requires getting a mamogram and other additional tests or if it's just a general physical that just takes a visit with you PCP and it's done.   My insurance includes a Health Savings Account with a large deductible - $6,000.  Because of that I was thinking about waiting until the first of the year to have the surgery so that I wouldn't pay the deductible this close to the start of a new year in case anything else happens and I have to come up with another $6,000 anytime soon.  But with some things that are happening with my job, I couldn't have the surgery until Feb at the earliest and I really don't want to wait that long, so I'm going to go ahead and try to get it as soon as I can.  It sounds like you were able to complete everything very quickly.  Did they give you any idea as to how long it would take to schedule the surgery once you have the approval?  Thanks for the info!  And good luck with your surgery!

Because I had a mammogram and pap last year my pcp didn't order another one. I am hoping the insurance doesn't need an updated one, but my pcp didn't think so. He just did a health history and sent me for some blood work. They didn't give me any idea how far booked they are so I have no clue when they are scheduling now. I do know that they are extremely busy and there are several charts on Sherry's desk. Sherry is the person who will submit your insurance approval tne tell you everything you will need for submittal. You will see her the day of your consult. Dr. Morgan, the Psych. is very nice and I had called on September 19th and the soonest available appointment was Octover 6th so if you are going to see him call asap. If you have any other question don't hesistate to ask.
