2 Months Post Op Update

Today I am exactly 2 months post op. My nurse came today, and I only have 2 wounds on my back side that need to be addressed. She feels that in about a week I'll be able to handle them on my own. I'm nervous about that, but if all I have to do is wash them out with saline, and slap a bandage on them I'll be fine. The thought of having to pack them just makes me nauseous!!

I also saw another ps that Kaiser wanted me to see today. He also has an outside private practice (which Kaiser rarely allows for obvious reasons). But because he specializes in body contouring, and because of how many Kaiser patients are getting wls, and in turn ps, I guess they see a need for someone like him. He was for the most part, happy with what he saw..but he did point out some concerns, which of course have me a bit concerned. He said that at the 6 month mark he wants to see me again, to maybe discuss revisions. He also is not convinced I should return to work on the 30th....he won't release me until the wounds are completely healed, which I totally agree with, especially because working at Starbucks is far from a sit at a desk job.

I left there feeling a bit blue, just not ready for any surgeries....though I see what he was saying about my arms, especially the underarm, as I have been a bit concerned about it also. He told me I have to be constantly massaging it, and my diet for the next 4 months has to be healthy...but I've been doing a really good job ever since this whole nightmare began...I have a few "naughty" days, but I'm really good, and the scale is showing it. I'm at 146 and haven't been there since Jr High. I'm a size Meduim, or 8, and it feels good....and all my labs that I had last week came back normal.

My scarring is really hard, and he says that's because I had 3 surgeries instead of just one, and it will soften, but not as it would have if I'd not had to have 2 additional surgeries.

Anyway, that's about it I guess. I do feel good, but like I said, a bit blue.....I think that it's safe to say that more has happened in my life these past few years than I'd care to have happen, and I'm feeling the need for a bit of a reprieve........

If any want to see a pic, I have a before and 9 week post op pic that I don't mind sharing...just PM me with your email addy.

Love U guys

Hi Janel!  Great update...hopefully you won't need another surgery after everything you've been through.  Does the PS say you may need revisions because of excessive scarring from multiple surgeries or because of a botched PS job?  I thought things were coming along good so I was a little surprised to hear what the other PS had to say.

Shoot me some pics if you get a chance!

I'm glad things are looking better! I must say, I'm a bit confused on the whole other PS opinion too???

Thanks. I use Bio Oil and Mederma....the ps said both are good to use.

I think that it's all just catching up on me, and I am not handling it very well. I should be stronger I know, but I don't really feel like it right now.

Hey sweetie, we all deserve our meltdown moments!!! This new life that we chose is not all easy and WOW moments, there are some tough moments too! I'm finding that out big time right now. I feel like I am going through a midlife crisis or something! lol   You don't have to be strong all the time, it is ok, that is what we are here for!!! You've been through a lot and deserve to have a weak moment, so go ahead!!!!
Hugs Bears  SendingPrayers_oasis_mo-vi.gif   love you honey!!!!

Hi Janel ~ I've been following your story and you've come such a long way - don't be discouraged and keep up the good work! I also had my RNY at Kaiser Fremont but with Dr. Hahn and have been very, very happy with their entire bariatric program.

I'm considering using Kaiser for my plastic surgery and was wondering what ps surgeon they referred you too. I had a consultation with Dr. Ciletti at Kaiser Union City and absolutely loved him!

Thanks!

I saw Dr Bansal in Walnut Creek.....I hear that there's a Dr Price at Kaiser Napa that is excellent.

Hi Dear!
By three months you're going to feel great!!! Heck if you're already climbing counters... which I don't even do... you're gonna feel fine. At this point I feel great... I'm just over three months out (7/4). I've started my walks and am fine... was gonna start-up at the gym 3 days but work deadlines got in the way this week. So, next week for sure! My energy finally came back... abs and lower body still feel tight... bl/ba a little tender at times. Next week I'll at least do leg weights and elliptical training... upper body I may hold off.

I too need a slight revision on my upper torso which I knew I'd probably need before going in. There was SO MUCH work to be done. Once the swelling went down I noticed a need to be pulled a little tighter. I may do this at Christmas... still deciding... or wait till spring. We'll see.

Take care,
Kim

Thanks Kim, I appreciate it........I guess my big concern is the hardness of my stomach...will it ever be soft again?
