OT: Fundraising Idea's

Hello Cali!

As many of you know I am training for the LA marathon. Thank you to those that have supported me.  Part of my responsibility is fundraising for AIDS project Los Angeles.  It is my committment to raise $1600 and if I am unable to raise it I will either have to drop out of the program or put it on my credit card.  YIKES!  So, I am turning to my online family for some support.

I need fundraising idea's.  I have blasted out several emails to everyone I know.  Sent letters to friends and family, work wouldn't let me formally announce my fundraising attempts, so I have asked as many co workers as possible, but so far I have not had the response I expected.

I am going to try to put on a car wash or possible see if one of the local bowling alleys will let me do a fundraising event there, but I am stumped.

I am consumed with the fundraising part of it and feeling very discouraged!

I sent you a PM so take a look when you have time.

Also, do you have the link to your fundraising page?  I cant donate much but

Lola,
How many miles are you running on the day of Tom's farm? You could always come down to Tom's farm and do a fund raising jar.  I am not sure where you work but you could always put a fund raising jar on your desk too.  Does your employer do employee matching donations?

Liz,
Again thank you for your ongoing support and your ideas.  I would love to go to Tom's Farm to meet everyone however our run is 10 miles that day and by the time I finish, get home to get my son and get to Tom's Farm it would be almost 2 and it's just not worth it for a lot of rushing and only an hour.
The problem with work is I work for a very large non-profit agency, however my program has five people, one who is training with me.  My agency doesn't match donations and wouldn't even allow us to FORMALLY announce what we are doing during work/meeting.  Political BS and since we are non-profit they don't want to endorse another non-profit agency.  So, I am just at a loss.

Lola,
You could also form a team and the team as each persons funds increase the money rolls over to the team.  Ask your surgeon for a donation.  I think that would be a good representation of him.  If you have the means you could also do something like red aids bracelets and sell them * you know like the Lance Armstrong "Live Strong".  I can tell you that people at the site might buy from you.  Scott, will also anounce that too.  You could sell them for 3 a or whatever it takes to cover your cost and give you profit.

Lola,
OOOH  I forgot one that Luana did go to Carls Jr.  They have the books that they sell.  It is pretty cheap and you make some decent return.

our HS football program does alot of fundraising through the local restaurants. A percentage of the receipts on a assigne dday go to the program. WE ( parents) have to eat at the business and present a flyer to make sure they know its for the football team BUT we raise 3-500 at a shot and do it 2-3 times a month.
You will have to get your friends adn coworkers to go the restaurant to raise the money but if its close to the office and you can get them to do it for lunch it may work out
