San Jose Rock and Roll Half Marathon Report

It's a combination of not losing valuable minutes and the fact that when you stop, your muscles tighten up so fast and starting running again is so hard.  I'd rather take 30 seconds and keep going.  So far I've only been caught once....at the LA Marathon behind Bank of America.  I was thinking since it was sunday and the roads were closed that nobody would ever see me.  Imagine my suprise when two guys in business suits walked right up to me laughing.  I just smiled and kept on "going".  They thanked me for making their day!  LOL

Now thats too funny.  I would be embarassed but I embarass easily.  Back in the day in the south peeing in the woods was common.  Urban peeing is an art lol.

Sure....Let's do them all!  :-)

I've decided NOT to run the Long Beach 1/2 this weekend...my legs are pretty thrashed.  Instead I am going to do my first ride and bike the full Marathon course.  26.2 miles!!!  Yikes!!!!

hey Brian

Great job, I'm just beginning the whole run/walk thing and thought I was going to die on my first 5K... need to keep training!

It was great to meet you, Kevin saved you from being surrounded by a bunch of woman!   Talkative woman actually.

Any tips on this walk/run thing would be great, I know I can do it, just have to tell my body that!

Have a great day!

Hi Debbie

I'm used to hanging out with women, so the estrogen imbalance didn't affect me

First thing would be to get fitted for a good pair of running of shoes if you haven't already.

Then you should pick a walk/run 5k a month or two away and begin training.  Start slow, there's several programs out there (Couch to 5k is one) that will guide you.  Don't overdo it on training, listen to your body and rest if needed.

I got a little overzealous in my training and ended up with some turf toe that required rest, so take it easy at the beginning
