Update on Monica

Hi Everyone,

I just got a phone call from Monica (Jordyn's mommy).  She had posted that she recently spent the day in the ER due to severe pain.  Well, now she is in the hospital.  They think she may have an ulcer.  She has severe pain when she eats, so she really hasn't eaten in 2 days.  They are just trying to manage the pain right now (she had a little bit of morphine yesterday), but she is supposed to be having an endoscopy sometime today.  If they find an ulcer, they will try and treat with medication for 6 weeks.  If they don't see an ulcer, they will do another test with barium and observe as it goes all the way through her system.  She said that they told her that surgeries done at UCLA sometimes leave the pouch too big, and that may be the problem.  In the end, if they can't resolve it any other way, they may have to revise with surgery.  She will keep us posted as to what they find and the course of action.  Jordyn is with her grandma (Monica's mother) right now.  The number for Monica's room is 310-517-2225 if you would like to call her.  Please keep her in your thoughts, prayers, etc. - whatever you are inclined to do.  Thanks!
