Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to know if it is common at 3 months out to still be tired all the time. I am getting like 8 or 9 hrs of sleep most nights. And still tired during the day, and feeling weak a lot of the time. Any ideas?

Thank you

Scott

Hi Scott,

I don't have to take naps daily anymore but when I walk more than 3 miles, I take some down time.  Some days I'm more tired than others.  I do see an improvement though.

Are you taking your iron and multi?  I'm much more tired when I don't take my iron.

Did you suffer from Sleep Apnea before surgery?? You should contact your dr and talk to about this there can be any number of things that is causing this tired feeling.

I would as your Dr.  I see the gal before me asked if you had Sleep Apnea. I had severe sleep apnea. I am not tired during the day much anymore, rather than "lazy" hahaha.  Maybe you need more B12 or Iron.  I'd definitly ask.

Scott,

I would go and have your blood levels tested.  You may be low in iron.  I am tired myself after 2 months yesterday but I push through.  Are you exercising?  That seems to give me more energy be live that or not.  I hope you feel better soon.

At 3 months out, I was exhausted.  I would say yes it's normal.  Your body is use to taking in a certain amount of calories... and it's now getting so much less..   so your body is working harder, and burning off the stored fat, calories, which takes much more energy, which will wear you out.

I hope that makes sense.  The way it was explained to me made sense at the time.. something about a train burning coal.. i dunno!  hahahahahaaa

But, I was tired all the time, I was weak, and sleepy... but it passes... and as your body adjusts, you will start to feel soo much better, and have soo much more energy!!!!

Just give your body lots and lots of time to adjust and heal!

Take care,

Hi Scott,

I'm 1.5 yrs out and tired all the time. My blood levels for B12 and iron are fine. I've decided it's that I'm a mom and my 3 year old doesn't sleep well so I don't sleep well! Anyway, how is your protien level. I notice if I don't get my protien in it really makes a difference in how I feel. Also, remember 3 months is still not very long and you have dropped a tremendous amount of weight. Give your body a chance.

Hummmm......Could it be that your b12 / iron levels are down?  You might want to chat with your surgeon to see what he recommends.  Other than that....ensure you're taking your protein, vitamins, etc.

Ditto what Renee said........I was the same way, tired alot, for awhile.

But, it never hurts to just give the doc a call.

I have been sitting here all day trying to figure out what I have been doing wrong. I am getting all my protein in (100-120g) per day . drinking around 150 oz of water( all i do is sip sip sip), using my cpap every night .
Well I have been bad , this is what i think it might be.... I keep forgetting to take my multi.... and my b12
